Just want to point out to anyone using this guide, which by the way is excellently written, that the edcast link has changed
Thanks for the compliment 🙂Dj BuikMemberMaybe you can work out some kind of deal with Leif?
Edcast fully integrated in Breakaway would be great.
Dj BuikMemberIf you delete the breakawaylive.ini file all settings wil be defaulted
Dj BuikMember
What is Breakaway Live?
Are you pulling my leg ❓ 😕
Dj BuikMember
Ookay.. Sorry that I’m resurrecting this old thread, but there’s a question that has been popping up on my mind recently: Where is the free software based audio transmission? Edcast could evolve to create low latency (AAC-LD or CELT (from creators of Vorbis) ?), end-to-end link, or would it radiorio?
I think the latency is not much of an issue here. The audio link must be robust.
Maybe with a failover line or something, so you no have a ‘dead air’ broadcasting.Dj BuikMemberThe easiest way is to use Breakaway Live for this.
In Live you can select the line in of your soundcard. With Audio Enhancer this is not possible, without additional software.
I think somebody tried this with Winamp and the line in plugin,
but i’m not shure.Dj BuikMembervlc player
Dj BuikMember
You’ve confused me
AAC is not AAC+
AAC = libfaac
AAC+ = winamps enc_aacplus.dll (older winamp) or enc_fhgaac.dll (later winamp)
there are now two versions of dsp_edcast – one with, one without fraunhofer aac+ support
You are right, my bad 😳 😳 😳 😳
So, i’ve got it working with the old enc_aacplus.dll,
i didn’t know there were two versions of edcast. What is the difference between the fraunhofer aac+ and the old enc_aacplus one?
Is this a licence issue or is there also a difference in encoding quality?Dj BuikMember
where do edcast’s .cfg and .log files get created in this scenario?
I really need to overhaul (again) the .cfg/.log location
The log and cfg files are created into the root of Breakaway: c:Program FilesBreakawaylive
dsp_edcast_v3.log
dsp_edcast_v3_x.log
dsp_edcast_v3_x.cfgNo need to change that 🙂
Dj BuikMemberThanks for the fast reply.
I got some more info for you:
AAC works perfect with the old Winamp (v5.601) install, this is the enc_aacplus.dll (893 Kb).
With the version downloaded from rarewares (libfaac.dll) it sounds scrambled. Also the new enc_fhgaac.dll (from fraunhofer) doesn’t work (edcast doesn’t see the dll),
which comes with the new Winamp (v5.621) install.I run Windows 7-32bit. I manually copied the following files from the Winamp folder
to the root of Breakaway install folder. (Breakaway has no plugin folder)bass.dll
liboggflac.dll
ogg.dll
pthreadVSE.dll
vorbis.dll
enc_aacplus.dll
libFLAC.dll
dsp_edcast.dll
edcast.chmDj BuikMemberJust upgraded to this new version.
I have some problems with AAC encoder, it sounds like ‘under water’.
I used the one from this site:
http://www.rarewares.org/index.phpI worked with the ‘old’ winamp AAC dll.
Can you also change the installer so it does not search for a winamp install.
It’s impossible to install, for example, to the Breakaway Live directory. Thanks for your efforts
Dj BuikMemberThe amount of memory a program uses has nothing to do with amount of processing (CPU) cycles a program takes.
(i.e. It is possible to build a program who uses only 1k and uses 100% of the processor.)Start a task manager and look wich program uses the most CPU time.
What type of CPU you have in your computer? And how much memory is inside?
Dj BuikMember
If your transmitter has no stereo multiplex input, it may not be possible to have RDS.
A MPX signal already include the stereo audio signal. What do you mean with stereo multiplex input?
Alcyone:
What motherboard are you using, or what Realtek chip is used?
Many onboard audio chips do not support 192 kHz output. What OS are you using?
Dj BuikMemberI think Dr J quote says it all.
If you have problems installing any version of Breakaway on a certain machine, then maybe there is something wrong with this machine.
This could be several reasons. You can not solve complicated computers problems in 24 hours, and you can not rely on the quick response from peoples on a forum.
Back to your problem.
Does this machine have some kind of firewall installed?
What version Breakaway Live are you installing? v0.90.96b is the latest version.
What error do you get?
What audio applications do you want to run?For a start you can download my setup guide here:
http://www.claessonedwards.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2115Good luck
Dj BuikMember
I guess the fact that I got no responses reflects that everyone on this board knows what I should have known……Breakaway doesn’t work with Windows 7. 🙄
That’s a lot of BS.
If you do not get your answer as quick as YOU want that is your problem. If you give us more specific and accurate info about your hardware and software maybe we can help you.
If you start with Vista 7 than people get confused, because it doesn’t exist.Do a search on this Forum and you find that Breakaway runs fine on Windows 7, included setup guide(s).
