Right click on Breakaway main window, click settings.
Dj BuikMemberDid you install the latest (audio) drivers for your laptop?
Also try ‘Wave’ or ‘DS’ mode as input/output interface. What version Breakaway you are trying to install?
Version 1.30.02 is the latest. Breakaway does not need ‘compatibility mode’.Dj BuikMemberI don’t have the answer for that. I think radiorio need to answer this question.
He is developing edcast further, and he is spotted on this forum too…Dj BuikMemberI think you need to set the attenuation in the setup of edcast.
Dj BuikMember
Jesse suggested this order for me (I don’t use all those):
- Atten/Gain
- Phase Rotate
- Impact/Clunk
I would imagine balance would go just after Atten/Gain.
Thanks Timmy,
So far we have this:
- Attenuation/Gain
- Auto Balance
- Phase Rotator
- Impact/Clunk
That leaves us BASS-EFX…
Where should i put it in the chain?Jesse, please give us your advise. 😀

I assume you talk about the Shoutcast server and not the Shoutcast DSP client?
It is the client, in this case Edcast, who make the connection to the IceCast or Shoutcast server, not Breakaway. So the answer is yes, it is supported.
You only need the IP address and port number for Shoutcast, mountpoints are not supported by Shoutcast.

You just select Breakaway Pipeline 1 in the Output > DirectSound settings.
Never tried that solution actually. Does that work, if you do not have a sound card in your machine?
I used Winamp only for testing the audio string. Will try it out.
Thanks for the compliment
Dj BuikMember
It has been my experience that BBP doesn’t work well with Win2008 Server anyway, to make a long story short the piplelines kept leading us to a blue screen after a week or so .. We switched to Win2003 and never have never had a problem since… Connecting via the standard RDP and seclecting "sound to be played on the host only" works like a charm too…. Food for thoughts 🙂
Audio
Did you use the 32 or 64bit version of win2008?
I use the 32 bit version, and i experienced no problems, except the RDP problem.
Dj BuikMember
The problem is you are requesting the audio from the remote computer when you’re connecting. You have to set in the RDP connection settings that you don’t want audio from the remote, and the problem won’t happen.
Jesse, i already checked this. See my original post.
It’s a known 2008 problem.I will try the virtual Soundcard approach. Any suggestions for a Virtual Sound Card to download with Windows 2008 support?
Dj BuikMemberIs there actually a (consumer) ASIO soundcard with Windows 2008 drivers?
I think you talk about the Pro cards, whos cost a fortune? And how do you give the application ‘exclusive rights’ to use them.
I got this (taskbar):
noaudio.jpg[/attachment:1vlms2c7]
and in the Control Panel:
noaudio2.jpg[/attachment:1vlms2c7]Dj BuikMemberThanks guys,
I put an attenuation of 2 for all streams.
Dj BuikMemberI think it has also todo with the music industries these days.
They do not make the shit piles of money they did years ago.So they can not afford ‘good’ engineers anymore.
So some ‘school boy’ are turning the knobs these days.
This is cheap, but they are missing the experience.Dj BuikMember
Audio processing of this type is changing and arguably ‘damages’ the sound that the producer had intended.
‘Audio’ producers these days force us to listen to totally clipped an screwed up songs.
The song gets damaged at the point these fu…ng producers turn their audio controls way too far up at the mastering / editing stage.Dj BuikMemberMost people these days listen to music from a laptop, PC or portable device. MP3, flac, WAV or whatever.
Not from a CD. The audio CD is (almost) dead. I don’t even remember when i bought my last CD.
Young people download (legaly or not) their music from the net.No (MP3) song have the same volume when you listening to them. I need to adjust the volume knob all the time, with every song. That is not comfortable. That’s when Breakaway comes in.
Dj BuikMember
Folks. Listen to me. I am a 20 year veteran of the music industry. THIS IS ALL BS!! All this software does is re-equalize and re-compress and limit the signal that PROFESSIONALS have spent countless hours recording, mixing and mastering. Who do you think knows better how the content should sound: Some piece of software or men and women who have been doing this job for decades in rooms that are specifically designed, built and tuned for the purpose of LISTENING?!
You sound a little frustrating. Is this because the music industry is "down the drain" for the last couple of years?
Leif (the programmer of this nice piece of software) is a PROFESSIONAL. He knows exactly what he is doing. What about all the web radio, pirate and other small (local) radio stations who want to sound like the big radio stations (with the big bucks). They can not afford thousends of dollars for radio audio processing.quote :The vast majority of audio content we hear (NOT listen to. There is a big difference.) these days is already so edited, automatically tuned, spatially enhanced, compressed and limited that it no longer even vaguely represents what the artist played or the sound they had in mind. All this piece of software does is make this problem even worse. You forget to mention that the most audio CD’s (what we are listening at home) these days are over modulated (clipped) also by PROFESSIONALS. Look at the "CD Hall of Clipping Shame" at this site:
http://www.cutestudio.net/data/products/audio/CD_clipping/shame/index.phpquote :You don’t have to believe me. Believe the facts. Do a search for “volume wars” or “listener fatigue.” Educate yourselves. Refuse to fall into the pit of commercial BS and consumerism that promises a Fix-All.There is nothing “professional” about what this software does. It is simply making questionable-sounding audio even worse.
What this software does is ABSOLUTELY professional for (small) radio makers, DJ’s and all the other peoples who don’t have the big bucks to buy the expensive hardware audio processing boxes.
Only my 2 cents about this issue…
