    Hi guys,

I need some help choosing the right encoder settings for a web stream with icecast and edcast.

I have actually three questions and i make it multiple choice for you 😀

    1) Which codec i need for a web stream of 32Kbps:
    a – HE-AAC v1.28
    b – HE-AAC High v1.28
    c – LE-AAC v1.28
    d – MP3 Lame v3.93.1
    e – OggVorbis v? (included with latest winamp v5601)
    f – Other encoder?

    2) The same question but then for a stream of 64Kbps

    3) Idem for 128Kbs

The a – e options are available in my edcast client.

    Thanks in advance!

    So, you’ll have 3 streams.

For 1st and 2dn (aac) use "HE-AAC", 32k and 64k. Don’t forget attenuation of at least 1dB. Put enc_aacplus.dll from latest winamp.

For 128k stream i would use mp3 with "lame 3.93.1"

Actually, I’ve found that an attenuation of 1.5dB to be needed, for mp3, or there can be audible distortion. PS/HE profile AAC usually requires even more.

    Thanks guys,

I put an attenuation of 2 for all streams.
