From reading your other posts, the inference is that running as a service is highly desirable, yet it is bundled in with other goodies which, to me are of little consequence. So, I have the choice of only running in foreground or adding AU$145 to my costs (the US exchange rate is currently seventy cents) to buy numerous options I won't actually use.
I love the new sound of BAOne, and it is obviously where you will spend your energies into the future, but I cannot justify a $350AU spend for one HD core and remote management, so I guess I will stick to my dead-in-the-water Breakaway DJ.
It is possible to use BAOne for "general computer usage" with one HD core. However, like its other poor cousin, Breakaway DJ, there is no free upgrade path, so you would have to purchase a complete full licence if you migrate.
I have been running the trial version of BAOne, and it is very, very good, but I am unsure whether to lash out the US$248 for a single core plus management, or just settle for my already paid for BADJ. Perhaps Leif might consider a cut down version of BAOne with just one core and none of the streaming options or other "frills", but with the new engine and range of presets.

[/quote]As I understand it, you don't get the option to run as a service UNLESS you buy Remote Control.
Are you using ASIO drivers? If so, you might need to increase your block size slightly. The "crackle" could be when the buffer just runs out before the next one refills it.
You should be able to find most of those settings are available in BreakawayOne. Clunk and Bass-EFX is included, but not AutoBalance. TWENTE is not in the initial package, but there are several which should give a similar result.
Hmm, that didn't happen to me, but I believe that the licence for VAC (Breakaway pipeline) is integrated with the app, but comes separately, so I think that BAB should still see the newer version. I recall that JesseG had advised anyone having trouble with Windows 10 when it first came out could install a later version of any BA product, and then uninstall it again, leaving the updated VAC behind.
I think that the random jingle emanates from BreakawayOneApp, not from VAC, so you should not hear the jingle if you revert.

[/quote]It creates a separate folder structure and has a different exe (BreakawayOneApp.exe), so I believe that the two can co-exist. I was running Breakaway DJ, and that still runs independently of BA1.

To everyone reading this, I have had the opportunity to "play" with this for 24 hours and I can honestly say that I have been blown away. The features, the presentation, and of course, the SOUND! Brilliant!

[/quote]As one of the Admins who has to constantly delete post after post of porn and drug links, the verification should be stronger, not weaker.
You should have received an email with the licence code in it. Can you search your old PC for that? If not, try writing to keith@claessonedwards.com and ask for clarification of the licence rules, and also for a replacement code.
I believe that it is a single user license, so it can only exist on one PC. You might be able to read the EULA when you install the new copy (It should exist in the folder as well). Obviously, a fee is expected to change hands each time a license is issued. I am just not sure if there is provision in the agreement to keep a backup copy.

Thanks DJ Buik. I eventually bit the bullet this past week and let Windows 10 update. I'm pleased to say that BADJ was one of the few things which survived without some tweaking. However, my point still remains that any development on BADJ seems to have stalled big time.
Great news that something is starting to be done about this. I bought Breakaway DJ, which seems to be the "poor cousin", and not even mentioned in the email. It also has the lowest number of presets.
If it is scheduled to be upgraded, I point out that the "free" migration to Windows 10 must be completed by July 29.
