I’ve experienced this several times in the past wheretwo or more "identical" PCs behaved differently. Part of the problem is the Qualityt Control testing of each of the components. They set the tolerance levels so far apart that many components may be on the brink of failure, but still pass the test. If you get lucky, you buy a machine where all the components are on the high side of average. If unlucky, everything in it is borderline, and you will be plagued with problems.
Incidentally, I’ve had the same thing with motor vehicles. The theory is, you should always buy a car manufactured on a Wednesday – after the weekend where the workers are still suffering hangovers, and before the end of the week, when all they can think about is the next weekend.
December 21, 2011 at 4:55 am in reply to: Breakaway in STL (Studio to Transmitter Link – IP Link) #12899MilkyKeymasterWhy not just remote into the PC at the TX and change BA there? Depending on the OS, there’s Remote Desktop (Windoz), VNC (just about any OS), Logmein/Teamviewer (Winners again). You could even do it with a phone app.
MilkyKeymasterMake sure that Ots AGC and EQ is completely off, else you will have re-processing of the already processed audio.
MilkyKeymasterGeez, 9 months since the last post, and much, much longer since the last update. Long time between drinks.

..or Mr Claesson, perhaps?
MilkyKeymasterI agree, hence my opening line.
JesseG, I also take your point about RAM addressability, but, considering the low-tech query, didn’t think the poster would be up to hacking to turn on hidden MS fixes.July 11, 2011 at 9:04 pm in reply to: Can’t run breakaway demo on windows 7 32 bit home edition #5402MilkyKeymasterActually, now that the thread is open, it has reminded me that I have a similar problem. I f I re-boot my HP laptop, or (sleep or suspend) Breakaway DJ starts up automatically, but all Windows sounds are scratchy and horrible. I have to manually shut BADJ down and re-open it again before it clears up the sound. Tried re-installing, updating audio drivers etc, etc, but the problem has always been with me since the first day I installed a copy.
And, while I’ve got your ear, mt XP Pro entertainment box won’t sleep without crashing BADJ. I used to sleep the PC overnight and use Wake Up On LAN to re-start it the following morning, but cannot do so now.
MilkyKeymaster
Hi Leif,
I also use Breakaway DJ. What are your thoughts about this product?
Will it also be updated?
[sigh] I bought DJ for the low latency – nothing to do with needing four cores (or even two for that matter). It works very well with my playout software, including HD video. My only grumble from day one was the limited number of presets available on the initial release, especially when Jesse has issued some tempting tidbits on presets available for other iterations of the program.
I asked a long while back if BA DJ was "the poor cousin" and got howled down. I understand, if you are going to issue improvements, you should focus on the products that have the highest number of clients, but it would be nice for us "bottom feeders" to get a few crumbs from time to time.June 26, 2011 at 10:39 pm in reply to: Wanting to promote this product. (affiliate marketing) #12300MilkyKeymasterWell, I suggest you PM Leif privately and leave your sales pitch for him. This forum is for USERS of the product.
I’ll lock this thread, and will continue to do so for each new thread you open, so please don’t waste your (or my) time.
BTW, as you’ve used the product for many years, you should know the developer’s name is LEIF (pronounced like "Waif").
MilkyKeymasterIs this guy for real or is this spam??
MilkyKeymasterYeah, well Fat Anna. All that got you was a ban!
MilkyKeymasterI’m in Australia, so the timezone is UTC+9:30.
MilkyKeymasterquote :Are you also administrator of this site Milky? At my suggestion (because I am available in a different time zone), Leif gave me some admin powers to try and control the amount of spam we are getting. I do what I can.
quote :I think Jesse and Leif are too busy about the new hardware box and the new software update’s that are coming this summer….If I was staring down the barrel of a (potentially) HUGE livelihood from after sales and commisions from the "hardware box", I guess I’d find it hard to devote time to commenting on this forum too. (Just my take on it).
MilkyKeymasterWhere has the forum been for the past few days? I haven’t been able to login for almost a week. Finally got in today, but it’s cold treacle slow! As usual, banned a bunch of idiots and removed their posts.
I think Leif needs to look for a much more secure and friendly provider if he intends to make this forum and the marketplace it provides more viable.MilkyKeymasterHa ha, Bryan. Only Ots users would fully understand that.
