Hmmm, you know…I think I still hear a bit of distortion even with final drive turned down to -3. Again, with upper mids. If you have time maybe you could run a few songs through and confirm/deny this? Is there a way to see this clearly on the oscilloscopes? Perhaps I could run some sort of test tones through the demo on my other computer to make some observations?
I’ll try another preset on the stream and listen for a while to see if it’s just my ears or whatever…
sneradioMemberDo the other controls have a similar correspondence to their functions (like compression ratio etc.), or does it vary depending on the preset?
sneradioMemberBacked off final drive to -2db. That did the trick. Lost a little loudness, but my goal is not to be the "loudest internet stream ever". 😉

Just wondering why some people are using the Phase Tornado plugin when it says in bold red letters at the bottom of the description…

February 2, 2009 at 8:51 pm in reply to: Which (internet) stations using Breakaway at the moment? #6308sneradioMemberI will be when I get a new computer next week. My aging old Celeron-based box has just about reached it’s useful limits. Probably going with the Classical preset: +2 final drive with BassEFX and Impact/Clunk plugins.
sneradioMember
Yes, one. Breakaway Live sounds better. Night and day, actually.

Seems like a good enough reason to me!sneradioMember
Damn. Anything I can try? i tried reinstalling, but no go. Maybe a registry entry I can try? (BTW, using 7 64-bit, if that makes any difference)
I see the green Breakaway icon in the taskbar in your screen shot…sneradioMember
…It’s open source ya know. 😉
Well, I tinker with Delphi but I’m not willing to tackle C++ yet! C++ source code gives me a headache. 🙂sneradioMember
1st:
As we already discussed by e-mail, the title streaming option (encoders) does not work.
Leif,
FYI: Title streaming works great with Edcast.sneradioMember
Bit of an update.. Been streaming with Breakaway Live for over a week now, and no bugs. It hasn’t crashed, and the audio’s sounding fine.
What’s the URL? Let’s have a listen!sneradioMemberJust what I’ve been looking for! A standalone processor with built-in input/output routing. Outstanding!
December 9, 2008 at 5:56 pm in reply to: 30Hz… Why is this freq the low end cut off point for FM? #5978sneradioMember
Traditional subsonic filters weren’t very sharp. Even an 18dB/octave high pass filter (with the -3dB point at 30hz) would likely only suppress 25hz 6dB below 30hz. So, the automation tone would probably still have been audible to anyone who has a subwoofer that can play that low. Not a very common situation though 🙂.
The ones in BBP are a little different. They’re extremely sharp — with the 30hz filter enabled, 25hz is at least 40dB down!
///Leif
Having worked for stations in the 80’s that used automation, I can say it was possible to hear the 25Hz tones on-air even on a typical stereo system of the time. The tones were filtered out, but just enough got through so you could hear it especially if the audio processing was raising low audio levels. There’s a "beautiful music" internet station I know of that obviously got their songs from old automation music reels. The 25hz tones sound unfiltered and are quite audible. So it seems possible to stream 25Hz also!
