Sorry, but I have to draw the line somewhere — there’s not enough hours in the day as it is 🙂.
Best regards,
///Leif
That’s fine. The other user is quite happy with his old version of Octimax anyway. 😉sneradioMember
Would you recommend using Audacity to record the sound coming out of BBP, that is after having set it up with the Lame encoder?
Thanks!
Zeb
I use Audacity and I have never had any problems with it. Works great with the Lame encoder.sneradioMember
Next on my list of software to write is software for doing a stable STL over the internet. Stay tuned 🙂.
Hardware-based like the Barix Exstreamer products or software-based?sneradioMember
What is STL?
Thank
Studio Transmitter Link. That’s how radio and television stations get content to a remote transmitter site. Could be a microwave relay or a fiber line etc.sneradioMember
The stability of Linux for some stuff is over-rated too…
I’ve manged to crash a couple of Linux boxes. It can be done! 😆sneradioMemberOf course. Why didn’t I think of that?!?
sneradioMemberI’ve been using something very similar for a couple of days and it sounds very nice on my Soft Adult/Contemporary internet stream.
Preset: Reference Classical

sneradioMemberCrashed the whole computer upon quitting the application. I had to reboot the computer using the power button.
sneradioMemberInteresting. Perhaps Microsoft has quietly acknowleged they made a mistake.
sneradioMemberMy ears are bleeding….
sneradioMember
I’m seeing the same thing regarding Vista and XP.
For a while there I thought it was just me! While I’m disappointed that Vista’s audio system stinks, I am quite relieved to hear that I am not the only one with this problem. And even more relieved to see that a software developer specializing in audio applications (Leif) sees it too!March 31, 2009 at 9:28 am in reply to: Suspense killing me! What was the surprise at the meetdag? #6969sneradioMember
The on-air 18ms delay is instant to everyone except the DJ!
///Leif
You should see the delay in satellite television broadcasts. The "program out" is near instant (maybe a few ms when dealing with digital video/audio), but any satellite downlink return is delayed. Maybe 1/2 sec for SD analog and 2 seconds or more for digital HD. The viewer has no idea but it is very obvious in master control.sneradioMember
Dave,
I thought you had solved the problem by looping the Digital output of your card back into the input. Bypassing the Pipelines. Didn’t that maintain the quality you wanted?
Scott
It was an improvement, but not enough. There are some songs where certain frequencies just get destroyed. It almost seems that when I change something it sounds OK for a while and then starts sounding bad again. I dunno. I like Vista’s GUI, but not the *@^%#% sound system.sneradioMemberI’ve given up fighting Vista audio and have gone back to my old XP box. 👿 Too bad it won’t run Breakaway (it’s got a poky Celeron processor). I should be moving everything to a Windows 2003 Server computer this weekend and that one runs Breakaway just fine.
sneradioMember
Magic Of The 80s just started .. gee I’m that old!!
I’m right there with you! I remember playing these songs as "currents" at various radio stations back in the day. 8)
By the way, that show is delivered "pre-processed" (sometimes poorly) so all bets are off as to sound quality. -
