Breakaway Audio Enhancer version 1.44.00 has been released. It can be downloaded from here https://www.claessonedwards.com/downloads/breakaway_setup_1.44.00.exe

    Version Update History: Version 1.44.00 – 23rd February, 2023

    • Separated BAE installer from the Breakaway Pipeline Driver
This fixes our previous issues with the Breakaway Pipeline Driver. This ensures future installations of BAE will no longer conflict with previous pipeline as BAE and Pipeline are installed and uninstalled separately.

    • Adjusted UI scaling on dropdown menus

It is acknowledged that BAE has been around since Windows XP and is still a 32 bit program where 64 bit programs proliferate, so future development will be limited whilst the program undergoes a complete overhaul.

Does this mean that BAE v1.44 will not require the Breakaway Pipeline Driver and other audio loopback devices could be used?

Not sure if this will work the way you want it to. The point was that, originally, the pipeline was part of the installer, but, as many people downloaded and installed later versions of the Virtual Audio Cables program than that which was bundled with BAE, complications arose.

Now, VAC is not automatically installed, but a link is provided pointing to the latest version available from the Breakaway website. You can optionally use the one already on your system, or you can remove that and update to the latest, separate from the BAE install.

Therefore, theoretically, you could use a different device. Provided that BAE sees it as an input/output device, you could use it.
