Hi There,
I came across Breakaway this week and had a relief after seeing it’s quality of sound and it’s price compared to pricey FM audio processors.
A question I have is this: If I had to add a TC Finalizer express before Breakaway would I be improving the overall output of the broadcast.
I am having this query since I am planning to have a 192Khz going out from my P.C with a (M Audio Delta Audiophile 192) and the TC Electronic is 48Khz max.Summarizing, would I be degrading the sound after all from 192Khz down to 48Khz?I am not so expert in these Sampling concepts and I would love to hear what the experts in this forum would recommend.
Thanks a million

The audio inputs to Breakaway are usually expected to be 44100 or 48000 it is only the output which runs at 192000 and this is normal. There will not be any loss of quality, just great sounding audio from your FM radio.

thanks for your mail and reply,
What do you mean when you say "I’ll leave it to the others to go into" Regarding the finalizer I heard a lot of good things about it and I thought that since all my audio will be based on MP3s and from a PC it would be nice to finalize and tighten the output prior to go into the Broadcaster Breakaway.
I was thinking also to use the Aphex 204 as an inline processor before the Breakaway. What is your view?

I also wouldn’t use the Aphex 204. Again, it’s a studio piece and the only place I could ever see it getting used for anything else is to correct for non-linear aspects of an audio system or chain. And in that case… if you really *need* it, then your money would be much better spent on a new soundcard/converter. 😉

JesseG has said exactly what I knew he would say.My view, and that shared by many on here is that BBP does not need any pre-processing, it can do everything you need it to do in fact pre-processing can cause all kinds of undesirable effects to your audio as you will have two sets of processing with different sets of time constants which can often cause the AGC to have problems knowing which way to go. Also you can end up with an overprocessed sound whereas what most BBP users are aiming for is maximum modulation and loudness but sounding as transparent as possible and also respectful to the program material.
BBP acheives this better than the industry leading hardware processors and with frequent updates, the support is amazing.February 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm #9985AnonymousGuestHi Guys,
Thanks for your replies.
So what do you suggest then should I go directly from my "On Air" Mixer to the Breakaway Broadcast with nothing in between?Regards
jos.February 27, 2010 at 9:51 pm #9986AnonymousGuestYes, just go straight into Breakaway. It’s pointless to use anything else really.
