Hi,
I am new here and have a question. Is it possible, without violating license terms, to use BreakawayOne or Breakaway Audio Enhancer in order to improve the quality of musical compositions made in DAWs (such as Pro Tools, Cubase etc…) by passing single samples, a sequence of, melody midi tracks, or whole compositon for mastering through the Breakaway Core and capturing them while\after being processed ?
January 25, 2022 at 2:19 am #16689MrKloroxParticipantI don’t know about the terms of service, but it’s very common to run mostly finalized and mastered music through a hardware processor before publishing. It’s possible to do this using Breakaway One if you set it up to output to a virtual device, which you could then record from. Sadly there’s no file-based option for Breakaway processing yet. Do experiment and leave your findings for the community, please!
I’ve seen this used and referenced in multiple places; mostly in rap production circles.

This experiment is very interesting indeed.Breakaway makes the audio aimed towards perfection, as far as my ears can preceive, with its high-end presets and configurations and that’s what a music producer wants.
I am curious as of what will official representative would comment on the thread’s topic.A phisical implementation for my idea is months away, as I am still lacking the professional gear needed in order to perform this procedure, which includes professional audio interface, monitors and the acoustic environmental treatment for the room.
Waiting for more people to reply.
January 25, 2022 at 12:39 pm #16693MilkyKeymasterI am not aware of any legal limitations to using a Breakaway product as part of a recording suite. I will refer it to their management for clarification. It may be as simple as including a reference to it in your sleeve notes (if it ever gets that far).
BAE is a lot simpler (and cheaper) to just clean up or tweak audio input, but, of course, it intentionally doesn’t have the ability to output directly to a file. That’s not say that it can’t be done, with “What You Hear” redirection or output to a different sound device.
BA1 DOES have the ability to output to a file (as a bi-product of a broadcast stream), but I’ve never taken note of the final quality of such a recording.
January 25, 2022 at 3:44 pm #16694MrKloroxParticipantBAE can output to a recordable source? I’ve never been able to pull this off. In fact this is the main reason I chose to invest in BAOne in the end. Maybe I didn’t know enough about doing it correctly, but I was attempting to output to a virtual audio device then record in a DAW. This is absolutely doable in BA One…
January 25, 2022 at 3:46 pm #16695MrKloroxParticipantBy lack of file based option, I don’t mean recording to file. I mean like using it on a file to add the effects similar to WatchCat or OmniaTools. Similar to a VST plugin, except as an application.

Thanks for passing it to the management. Hope they will not have a problem at all.I saw in a quick start guide that BA One can stream FLAC stream, which is already good, but, it is rarely used in the music production industry, so, I have a few additional questions:
1. What is the highest sample rate and bit depth that BA One can input, process and output ?
Can it do 32-bit/192 kHz ? Because this is the max export quality of Pro Tools DAW. If no, what is the maximum it can ?
2. What is the maximum streaming quality of the BA One output in sample depth and bitrate (using as bi-product Milky mentioned) ?January 26, 2022 at 5:44 pm #16699ReturningParticipantsample RATE and bit DEPTH in my last reply. Apologies, my bad.
January 27, 2022 at 8:11 am #16700MrKloroxParticipantFor the BA1 HD core, things are limited to 24-bit 48khz. I’d love to know as well if it’s possible to go higher. Perhaps in a patch. I know the FM cores can output at 192khz, but I think that’s multiplexing (mpx) a 48khz signal. And I’m pretty sure the processing bit depth is 32-bit, but I could have sworn I read the pipelines only make use of 24 bits when sending audio. This was in the old forums.
These limitations are there because BA1 was meant to be for streaming and broadcasting audio, where 24 bits is plenty of headroom, and sample rates don’t need to go above 48 when streaming. I wonder if a studio/daw-friendly core/version of BreakawayOne would ever exist. Something like OmniaTOOLS (a file-based processor) for Breakaway would be great.
