Hi friends, I am currently testing Breakaway Audio Enhancer in Windows 10, connected to a 2.1 audio equipment to improve the sound of my TV in the PC to watch series and movies. I'm using the "Reference Setting" preset and also "Reference Movie", the sound is very good, the dialogues that originally have little volume improve a lot.
But the problem is when there are scenes with very loud audio, an example: in the series The Punisher, where there are shots of weapons, the sound decreases a lot, and loses its volume in the basses, the sound of this type of scene sounds very low.
What could be a solution to not lose volume in this type of scenes?
Thanks!!!!

Both use Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to pull up the quieter levels to a pre-set point. It follows that the AGC can work in reverse – pushing DOWN the levels where they exceed the pre-set point. In BA1, you can tweak the head room upwards or downwards so that the AGC will not clamp until later. I assume that you can do the same in BAE.
Alternatively, switch to a preset which is more tolerant of the higher dynamics.

Unfortunately Breakaway One is not an option for me because of its high price, I think BAE is the best choice of quality and price, but I can not find how to control the Automatic Gain Control in BAE.Thanks!!!
February 14, 2019 at 11:05 am #5758MilkyKeymasterI may be wrong, but I thought there was an upgrade path from one to the other for free or a nominal fee.?
February 14, 2019 at 3:20 pm #5759MrKloroxParticipantI don't think BAE qualifies for the upgrade. At least it didn't look like it when I was researching upgrading to BA1.
To the OP, when I used BAE for movies and music, I liked to use Helix with the bass boost turned all the way down and bass shape turned up. This is in my opinion the best setting for bass if you have a subwoofer. Then you can adjust the speed, range, and power to find a good setting that doesn't destroy the range you're looking for. When I watch TV (not dramas) I liked to use Eruption because it made the quietest parts loud enough for me to hear without blasting my ears.
I still recommend trying out BreakawayOne. BA1 has loads more settings and much better bass quality compared to BAE. It's got an unlimited trial mode and the nag/reminder to register doesn't happen very often. It only airs when it's processing audio, so it won't break in when you have things paused or the input muted. I used BA1 for like 9 months before finally buying. I used BAE for a couple years before that. In fact I'm using a a trial core in the living room where the TV is, and that's been just fine since I don't watch TV very much.

Thanks!!!!

(edit: Leif even made a broadcast TV processor before Breakaway One called the Aero.Air. Maybe somebody'll post a BA1 compatible preset from it.) 8)

Are you being super modest on purpose? Or… 🙂If it's "or" then, you might be surprised to know that Leif's audio processing effects around 85% of all broadcast television on Earth. Almost every box that Linear Acoustic makes is one of Leif's.

Wow. I truly wasn't aware how ubiquitous Leif's algorithms are. That's pretty awesome. I have only kinda recently started being conscious of individual developers of awesome software and following their works like one would a band/artist. I feel I'm just now becoming aware of how special something like BreakawayOne is, after learning a little about Telos and Omnia.I happened to come across Volume Logic randomly while it was in beta stages and I was lucky enough to be accepted as a tester. Just like I happened across OctiMAX years before as a teen and had my Winamp completely transformed. I would use it to make mix tapes to play in my friend's car when we'd ride around town. I'm even looking at getting a Surface tablet so I can take it with me in real-time. I even bought a Plantronics Voyager BT 'headset' back in the day because I somehow got it in my mind that the VL tech went into it.
Now I intentionally have LC tech processing my audio well over 85% of the time.

Octiv "OctiMAX" inspired technology went into it, yes. I have a couple of those headsets. They are still great. 🙂October 23, 2019 at 11:58 am #5765EmileZekMemberHi all, I own the Sennheiser ew112-p series and use the provided lavs with it.
Now my question is this. Will I get better sound out of a Countryman B3 or B6, going to a mini jack and into the Sennheiser system?
If the limit of quality is governed by the Sennheiser ew112-p system, will the Countryman Lavs give a much better quality sound?
