The source files are still online but the binary executables are already gone.

Memberyeah, a bit of a loss, but one could argue it happened 2-3 years ago really. there’s another version of EdCast that is being actively developed. http://users.tpg.com.au/radiorio/

MemberHi JesseG.
Do you have specific parameters for the .cfg file for this version of edcast modified ?
ThanksNovember 23, 2010 at 11:04 am #11585JesseG
MemberI’ve never actually even used the modified one. I have my own encoder.

MemberIs your own encoder better ? and why ?
Could you share it ? (is it already available for download ?)November 23, 2010 at 7:07 pm #11587JesseG
Member
Is your own encoder better?
"better" is subjective, and personally i think it is.
and why?
extremely robust net-code aware of the connection and device lag, including a handy dandy "lag-o-meter" to show how far behind sending the audio out you are. also… the quality i get from it for 128kbps mp3 is unmatched, even with my recommended EdCast settings posted in this topic. there’s tweaks i’m doing that can’t be done in EdCast.
Could you share it?
yes, but i won’t. not just because of licensing issues. but that is one reason.
(is it already available for download ?)
nope.

When you use part of other software, you can provide ability for the user to download the codec himself. That’s have been done by edcast for example… Is it an other problem ?
I’m very sad that leifcast isn’t available for download. Because I’m trying to have a better sound with a 128k mp3 stream and I can’t… Even if lame quality = 0 instead of 2….

His encoder would have even more licensing issues than mine if it were to be made public.November 24, 2010 at 10:57 am #11591JesseG

http://pastebin.com/cPpSCeqGThat’s the list of what the presets are for whatever number you enter. In a C++ enumeration, the numbers will count up each item from the last item that was defined specifically (or from zero for the 1st if non are ever defined specifically).
So "LQP_CBR" is 12. Essentially that’s the same thing as "–alt-preset cbr [bitrate]" or in new versions simply "-b [bitrate]". It’s absolutely the recommended preset to use for cbr streaming at 112kbps or above. At 96kbps or below, you might like the sound of some of the other presets more, personal preference in some cases. I think I remember Leif saying he really liked the "LQP_RADIO" preset for low bitrate streams. But do yourself a favor and just run PS-AAC in the 24-48 kbps range.
Lame 3.93.1 is my personally recommended version for 128kbps 44kHz joint stereo.
I’m doing further tweaks to the efficiency of the bitstream that allows for more bits to be allocated to audio, and in a more efficient way. Conversely I’ve also raised the low-pass up to 17.5kHz. Together it seems to be a pretty awesome combo.

MemberJust want to say hi, yes I’m fixing up and improving edcast – FYI my main reason for even touching edcast is because it was so easy to rewrite the standalone version to use ASIO – I don’t use ASIO for it’s low latency, I use it because it provides maximum flexibility for my broadcasting setup

MemberThanks for all new features !!!
They are all welcome !!!
especialy the gain per stream !December 23, 2010 at 1:34 pm #11596Guillou
MemberMaybe a bug, when you change the name of log file, it doesn’t work. It only take the default name.
I installed it for Brekaway live and it always restart when you click "connect" only if you select somme attenuation ! (ex : -2db)
Moreover, in the installation program, I can’t install it in another path than c:program fileswinamp… the install button can’t be clicked. -
