Does Breakaway support incoming MPEG or PCM streams directly?  I'm looking to use it as both a processor and a stereo generator and given that we already have an IP-based STL, it would be nice to get rid of the additional D/A + A/D step by omitting the Barix at the transmitter site.

    thanks~

you could try putting winamp on the same pc as breakaway and load in the livelink plugins to your winamps plugin folder, try playing the stream in winamp and then go to prefferences in winamp and click dsp plugins, select livelink for the pipeline your using in breakaway (livelink 1 for pipeline 1 livelink 2 for pipeline 2) and so on.

Winamp seems like major overkill for this.  I'd like to get as close to an appliance config as I can.  Is there a way to feed one of these pipelines directly?

breakaway itself can't play streams, the only other option you could use is a cable from your desk into the pc at the transmitter site but i suspect your transmitter site is a bit away from your studio if your using an stl? could you set all sound from the breakaway pc to come through breakaway? then you could try playing the stream in media player?

Correct, transmitter is ~6.5 miles from the studio and the radio link is all we have.  Guess I'll have to setup VLC or Foobar2000 to launch from a command line if I want this thing to be able to survive a reboot.

I can recommend Foobar, if it's possible to setup to automatically start streaming.  It has a transparent-sounding audio path in it.  You can use "sc" from the command line to make ~any program run as a service by the way.  But for non-CLI software it might be a better idea to have the machine auto-login and have it somewhere that autoruns after login.  Let me know if you try it as a service, if it works or not. (i don't know if it would show the GUI after logging in, if you run it at boot, before logging in)  One benefit of a service running even after login is that it can restart itself if it crashes.

It's hard to believe that only the Exstreamer 1000 has a digital output on it.

Sorry for late reply, but the DEVA DB90 has a digital output:
