Is there a way to see a log of the stream encoders for when they drop and reconnect? I know the stream receiver keeps a running count of drops and time running, but is there a log somewhere for the encoders?

I’m not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there is a “logs” folder at C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\BaRemote\logs.

Where oh where has the instruction page gone that shows us how to add AAC encoders to BA1 streaming. It’s lovely that the sales brochure says we can do it. And yes, I did it using those instructions on my first BA1 installation. But I have forgotten how I did it and that info seems to have just vanished from the Internet and the reworked CE forums.

I’m ready to buy another BA1 just for HD and streaming purposes, but won’t do it without the optional AAC running on my demo version first. I know it can be done, so HOW? Anybody??

I don’t stream, but I have a licence to do so. Let me play around with options and I will get back to you.

If anyone else already has experience with this, please chime in.

Thank you Milkman. I know it can be done because my existing BA1 is doing it as we speak. But it will be pickled in kimchee if I remember the steps, and I can’t find them anymore. Any help locating this info would be much appreciated.

Is the built-in AAC encoder good enough or do you need to use a custom encoder? If the latter, I think my ability to help is null. However if you’re fine with using the built-in ones, here are the steps.

    1) Enable the Streaming core in the settings
    2) Navigate to Core> Streaming> Encoder 1
    3) here you can choose AAC from the codec list and configure the rest of the stream settings

this Video might help visualize how to get there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_6MKp-t56g

I believe you also have to download a package of the encoders as MP3 and a couple others are built-in, but HE-AAC and some others are not, if I recall.

Thank you, Mr Klorox, for your research.😊

And thank you, timmywa for reminding me about the download package.👍

    Streaming
    Applicable to HD cores.

Can stream to Icecast, Shoutcast and Shoutcast 2 servers, and encodes up to four streams from one processor.

    The following codecs are included:

    Ogg Vorbis
    Opus
    FLAC
    MPEG-1 Layer 2 (twolame)
Industry standard MP3, AAC and HE-AAC codecs can be used, but are not included.

Any stdin/stdout command line encoder can be used.

If you just search “HE-AAC Codecs” there’s a link to the package in Soundforge. https://sourceforge.net/projects/faac/

Oh, I see. I must have downloaded an AAC codec package at some point..? I just realized how long I’ve had this PC. It was on the list instead of being Custom, so I didn’t think it was externally acquired.

    Thanks for the input, team.

Yeah, I downloaded the optional AAC codec package and it doesn’t run on the demo. Will fiddle with it a bit more to see if I got the wrong one or something. I know I did this for the BA1 that I’m running on the air right now, but that time, I had no trouble. That forum info is unfortunately gone forever.

Not going to lay down the purchase price until I can get AAC running on the demo, quite simple. And if it’s a ME problem, I’m just stuck since I’m the only ME I have to help out here.

My faith has been shaken a bit, but I’m still running BA1 instead of making a move. I like the way the station sounds on the fringes with the extra boost I get vs. the Optimod running on my companion translator using the same model of transmitter, PTek 300.

Okay, after a few hours of tinkering and downloading aac codecs, I have some progress, but not like you might prefer. I found the installed codec, uninstalled it, and located the download on my old HDD in case I needed to restore it (spoiler, I did). I looked for that exact same codec pack download and I can’t seem to find it at all.

First, I found that the codec needs to be placed in the Breakaway One app directory and named enc_aacPlus.exe to show up in the list. I have found only one that works, with included enc_aacPlus.dll, which I read is based on the Winamp aac encoder. However, I’m not certain if it’s cool to upload and post a link, as I don’t know what the redistribution legalities are.

So I think your bet is to use the Custom entry and try one of the alternative AAC encoders. Be sure to place the files in the Breakaway One app directory or use “quotes and spaces” around the path if you’re going to call it from elsewhere. I haven’t found the right string to make the custom codecs work yet, however.

    @Milky
let me know if I should throw it up on mediafire or something.

I am not sure what the legal implications are, but I believe that Leif would have secured the appropriate rights at the time, so I am prepared to risk it.

I have uploaded a zipped copy of the codec that I installed way back in 2018 when I started testing BA1. It is obviously not the latest and greatest, but I know that it works.

Here’s the link to a friend’s private website. Copy and paste it to your browser. http://www.jrcomputing.com.au/JR_Stuff/AAC_Codec_Package.zip

    The suspense is killing me.
Did it work for you? This is for the benefit of others, if it was successful.

Yow. I could swear I replied already but it’s not here that I can see.

Yes, the driver you pointed me to worked just fine. Supposedly the same AAC plugin as the one I had, except this one works and the other one did not. Thanks to everybody for posting the information. My trial version works fine. Now if I could just get the license that I paid for, I’d be a happy camper.

It’s simple once you have the right version of the right software, I guess.
