For my purposes, being able to have the enhancer collapse down the bass frequencies into essentially mono was very helpful.
In coming from the original breakaway I don't see anything like that now in One. Is this an interface thing and I'm missing how to achieve this or is this function gone?

If gone, there seems to be plenty of room in the 'enhance' panel. Perhaps a new slider with 'Mono Below' that starts at OFF and lets you choose the cuttoff frequency.

Try using a headphone crossfeed VST plugin like Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural DSP: http://bs2b.sourceforge.net/
The effect is very subtle, but it should give you the effect you're looking for.

Enable VST plugins in the Misc Settings tab of the config app. Now a VST Plugins tab should appear in the Misc tab of your core in the main app. Select which VST slot you want to use and enter the full path to the dll you extracted from the zip, without quotes. You might need to run BreakawayOne in administrator mode, depending on where you put your VST dlls.

Here's the direct link to the latest version of the VST http://sourceforge.net/projects/bs2b/files/plugins/VST%20plugin/2.1.0/vst-bs2b-2.1.0-win32bin.zip/download

This is actually part of the Multipath Mitigation feature now, you'll find the button under FM Processor / Misc / I/O / Main.

Make sure the host itself is not enabled in the Core>Misc>VST Plug-ins>Main tab when attempting to paste or type the path to your plugins. Otherwise adding or removing individual VSTs will not work. Aside from that, I don't know what could be preventing you from writing in the path field.

Also keep in mind the VSTs don't seem to apply when listening via the low latency path. Keep it on the main processor path and use the FFT spectrum analyzer to verify the low frequencies cross over in case it's too subtle to hear.

Arhh now I can write on the line. But how do I get the plugin to show ? Nothing happens when I press enter. And the lower line box is greyed out ? I have tried writing the path with and without the plugin name., An I am running as Adninistrator 😉

Go back to Core>Misc>VST>Main and re-enable the VST host once you have the path entered. It'll let you know how many plug-ins are active below the bypass box. You'll then be able to go back to VST1 and the Open User Interface box will be usable if everything else works correctly. Otherwise there should be some more information above the path on the VST.

HD doesn't have multipath problems like analog FM, what's the reason for wanting to mix the bass to mono if it's not already mono in the recording?

I see. I got IT working like a charm now. But where does the vst,'s in the chain ? Before or after MB compressor, agc and All the enhancements ? And thanks again for the quick replies guys 😉

I think it applies before the input. Would be nice to be able to place them in the chain or bypass VSTs individually.

I don't know about the other posters, but for me it has to do with headphone listening fatigue. Bass from both speakers can be heard through both ears, whereas with headphones only each ear hears its own bass. Some poorly mixed songs or instruments have extreme audio separation in frequencies that just don't sound right (ie; the lower you go). I think the first link in my first post might explain it better than I could. Been a big fan of your software since Octimax. Might even call me an evangelist.

I agree IT would be nice to be able to put them where you want in the chain. What does Leif say ? Does it come before or after in your oppinion ? 😁

    Hi MrKlorox,

Headphone listening fatigue — that makes perfect sense, actually!

But, then it needs to go in the speaker controller (speaker out, monitor out etc), not inside the main processor.

I'm already planning to add a Mono switch to the speaker controller (customer request for another product based on the same framework) so that'd be a good time to put a Mono Bass switch into the speaker controller, too.

    Best,

Awesome! That means less latency since I can skip the VST. That page has a good open source formula for crossfeed, and the flexibility is good to have. Would the potential Mono Bass switch come with a slider for frequency LP if not also delay?
