ParticipantHi there,
I have a quick question regarding Breakaway in App mode, is there a way to start it minimized, that is as an icon near the clock (not in the taskbar)? I know you can close the app in the background but I don’t know how you can do it at launch. I’d like to start it at boot but not in service mode (because I need to use the Keyboard controls).

KeymasterThis video shows how to move icons into/out of the Systray area.
Is this what you wanted to know?

ParticipantHi Milky, and thank your for your answer.
No this is not what I’m looking for. When I start BreakawayOne, it opens the main window and also adds its icon in the system tray. I can close the window and BA1 stays open in the system tray, but what I want is to not open the window when BA1 starts. I want it to start in the background, in the systray only immediately.
Right now I’ve set up a Batch script that does that but it’s clearly a hack and not ideal. I was wondering if there’s an option or a command line switch to make it start in the systray without opening the main window.

KeymasterI’ll do some experimenting. I use BA1 as a service and use the remote management package to make any adjustments, so I’ve never experienced the problem you describe. Is there some reason why you can’t take the same approach?

ParticipantYeah, my understanding is this is a premium feature that requires the management package (service mode). It shouldn’t be, IMO.
edit: What keyboard features does the Native app do that the Remote app doesn’t?

ParticipantI’m using the Keyboard Volume Control in the “Common – Monitor Output – Main” controls. It allows the volume of the common output to be set using the volume keys on your keyboard. It doesn’t work on service mode because the service doesn’t have access to the keyboard (it’s not running in a user session).

Another workaround could be to write an app that would take control of the volume keys and set the volume using the BA1 API, but again this is overkill. This feature already exists (I asked Leif about it because I was already using it on BA Live btw), so I’d like to make use of it, now that I’ve got a nice keyboard with volume keys again 😉

ParticipantI don’t have it installed on this machine, so I can’t easily check, but doesn’t the BaRemote app offer a way to control the service remotely? It seems like the onus should be on the BaRemote app to accept/intercept the volume keys.
However, I’ve had to write an AutoHotKey script for this feature with another app. I realize you don’t want to, but using the BA1 API to set the BA1 volume based on Windows’ volume settings, which would be controlled by your keyboard, might be the way to go about it.
I use an app called MidiMixer to act as a middleman for my volume solution, but only cause I can’t figure out how to detect MIDI controls in AutoHotKey. Optimally, it would be great to be able to assign MIDI knobs to specific controls within BA1/remote directly.
