Greetings Leif! I have been a long time OctiMax customer and recently I purchased Breakaway Audio Enhancer and in overall I love this software and its Multi-band dynamics processing and I’m very impressed with it.
I have just been experiencing some minor issues/bugs with the Breakaway volume control.
> I don’t use Breakaway Pipeline as my default playback device and I only select it in other third party programs. And I always set the volume controller in Breakaway to a fixed level (-7dB). But it does not keep that setting, over time it randomly decreases the volume levels by itself.. -7.1 .. -7.2dB etc. until it reaches 0dB/Mute without me even touching the computer.
The strange thing is that it is not a volume control related issue from my part since I have set my remotes to only control the default playback pipeline and not the Breakaway pipeline.
My dedicated XBMC server is on 24/7 and the XBMC Audio output device is set to = Line1 (breakaway pipeline).
Is there any way for me to force Breakaway to permanently lock the volume settings on a specific level?
The only thing I can think of is to set "breakaway.ini" to read-only, but that is not a good solution.
I would appreciate any help on this issue, right now I’m forced to always ALT-TAB myself out of XBMC and double check the Breakaway volume in the taskbar before I start playing any audio just to be sure that it is set at -7dB. I’m not sure what is causing this since I’m certain that none of my applications or remote controls has direct access to the Breakaway volume pipeline and still the levels changes by itself over time. Cheers and many thanks in advance.

There’s a few known issues with the volume control, and this wasn’t one of them, so thank you for the heads up! I’m reworking the volume control method for the next release, so I will definitely keep this in mind, and make sure there will be an acceptable workaround or fix.
Best,

I always tell my friends that "Once you try Breakaway and hear the difference, there’s definitely no going back" =) Cheers
August 24, 2009 at 4:52 pm #4880AnonymousGuestUpdate: I found the source to this problem; Breakaway does not change the volume by itself. I found out that changing the volume in some third party applications* will affect both the default pipeline and the Breakaway pipeline volume at the same time, even though those applications does not use the Breakaway pipeline as audio output device. And since I launch those applications within XBMC (which I have set to use the Breakaway pipeline) my Breakaway volume becomes Mute when I exit those applications and return to XBMC. Again many thanks for the support, hopefully there will be a way to disable the Breakaway volume control or set it at a fixed level in the future versions for those of us that control our volume through the default pipeline only. Cheers
*Applications that does this:
HyperSpin (An arcade/emulator frontend): http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/
and also some builds of MAME and some other emulators. etc.
