We have 2 encoders set up to stream with Shoutcast V2. The 128 Kbps one plays fine with no issues however encoder 2 which is streaming at 320 kbps continuously skips every 5 secs and connection can be seen dropping out on encoder saying ‘connecting’ them ‘320 ok’ then loses connection. Router has been changed plus network cable from PC to router but issue persists. Any idea what could be causing this? 99% certain it isn’t server related and our internet connection seems fine.
Drop the rate down on the 320 feed to see if it stabilises at 128 or 256ks. That will tend to eliminate cables and connections, then we can drill down on the server.
We seem to have identified the issue to one stream as the issue occurs if we add it to a different PC. Other stream running works fine at 128kbps including test streams we have set up in Centovacast. We just have one stream that continually connects/disconnects. Any ideas?
Have you tried dropping the rate to see if it stabilises (as suggested before)? Are there any buffer sizes that you can tweak? It sounds like it needs larger buffers so that the higher rate can fill up more. Try streaming it directly to a local PC. If that works, the problem is downstream with your ISP, server, time-slicing, buffering etc.
Why would you ever need/want to stream at 320?? That is very excessive. Unless it's on an internal network, you wouldn't want to stream this over the public internet…
