Basically ReplayGain but using EBU P/LOUD group’s R128 industry standard (ITU-R BS.1770-2) method of accurately measuring subjective loudness. I’m proud to have been a small part of P/LOUD and this is just one of the wonderful uses of the group’s work. Cheers 🙂

What are your recommended settings for this tool?

For MP3Gain, you recommended 85db for the target level.

What about this tool to get the same, optimal levels?

    Thanks.

0 LU per R128 should be perfectly fine. 🙂 ReplayGain calibration is where you want 0 LU to be at. -23dB LUFS is what R128 recommendation recommends (yes that’s repetitive).

Personally I don’t think they should be exposing most of these settings, unless you don’t have one of the EBU "Compliant" options selected. The fact it defaults to -18 LUFS doesn’t make me happy. That’s NOT compliant with R128.

Alright, thanks for the info! Could you take a screenshot of your optimal settings. There are a lot of choices here! I appreciate it!

Just change the calibration to -23 LUFS, and see if it’s enough headroom. Everything else is fine on "R128-2" (which they are changing to R128-2011 to avoid confusion)

I left all defaults except the LUFS. Changed it from -18 to -23 and while it helped a bit, all my meters still go all pink. Should I just keep lowering that setting? Any other settings I could fiddle with?

    Thanks.

    This only for mp3?
What about wave files? I play only wav.

    Thanks

So I moved that slider all the way to the left, I think -36, and it wasn’t making a difference on playback. Is it actually changing the wavform or just adding a tag?

So the player has to be able to recognize the replaygain tag…. hmmm.

I wish there was an MP3Gain-like tool just for WAV files. Lossless and batchable.
