hello everybody,
i`m a mobile dj from germany, using virtual dj pro and the american audio controller vms 4.1. in the german vdj forum a guy gave me a tip, that there is an awsome software called breakaway dj. i have downloaded the demo and tried to configure the software with vdj and my controller. however i spend days with trying but i am not succsessful at all… 🙁 the guys at the vdj forum gave me a lot of great support but until now all attemps to get the software running failed. is there someone in this forum that has the same controller running on vdj or knows how to configure ? at the moment i can use only the midlog 1 and it`s linefader. even if there are tracks loaded in all 4 decks, there all come to the midlog 1. i suspect the problem is a wrong configuration of vdj, the vms 4.1 or in both. i count on your experience 😉

I have experience with Breakaway DJ with the Denon HC4500 controller and OtsAV.
The Denon has also a 4 channel (ASIO) USB soundcard inside.I made a manual for this configuration on the OtsAV user forum.
Maybe this can give you some tips on how to do this with your setup.Look at this link:

thanks for the manual. i think i`ve got the problem now. the vms appears only as a 4 channel soundcard. so you need 4 channels to configure. bw dj has only 2. at the denon controller you can configure the master out signal at it`s own. so bw dj can catch the master out and modulate the signal. thats it. so i can`t use the software for my vms….🙁(

NO! Breakaway DJ has 4 channel input and output!
2 channels for Deck A and 2 channels for Deck B.
Look at my manual at Scenario 2, figure 2.
hello my friend thank you 4 your support. im sorry but i dont know how to interpret the firgure 2 at the moment. all i can see is that there are 2 stereo channels leaving the green bdj box ( i need 4). maybe i explain it the wrong way. to get my vms working i must configure each of the 2 pipelines for one deck. so pipeline 1 is deck 1/ pipeline 2 is deck 2. having this config. the vms is working perfect. but the vms is a 4 deck controller so i need 2 more pipelines to config. them to the last 2 decks ( 3 + 4). bdj supports only 2 decks. at the denon controller you can config. the master out individually. at the vms there is no master out to configure….unfortunately.
EDIT: oh i see there is another scenario 2 figure 2 at page 46 !!! i´ve read the one on page 8. BUT the software with 4 channel in and 4 channel out ist another software, called breakaway live.
i will test the demo the next few days.Ok now i understand.
Your have a 4 deck controller (= 8 channel = 4 x stereo).I do not know if you can install a second instance of Breakaway DJ, never tried that.
You can run multiple instances of Breakaway Live, but i do not know if that is what you want.

i tried the demo of BAL last night, but i couldnt get the software ( sound ) running
it seems the BAL software needs hardware I/O to control them. the vms is just a virtual device
so i am not shure if BAL can configure the I/O.
i postet a question to leif calling 4 help. let`s see what happens
multible instance of BAL would not be a problem. but i dont know how much each license is.
maybe it would be cheaper to buy a denon controller 😉))
