    Hi Leif,

only a technical curiosity about your Phase Rotator DSP PlugINs…
I’ve tested all of it and (if I don’t have an ears problem), in my opinion, these plugins cause a bass degradation. Possible? I think that BBP sound more clear, bass frequencies, without "Phase Rotator" or "Impact/Clunk" (Phase Tornado, I have not considered). Their would not have to increase bass impact? Are corrected, my impressions?

    Bye, thx. 🙂

    Hi Luk!

Yes — it’s definitely possible. In most situations, it’s cleanest without the plug-ins!

However, try some 80s, or classic rock — something that does not have a lot of bass, and then turn on the BASS-EFX plug-in — I think you will agree that it creates incredible bass punch on things that do not already have it.

    Best,

Hehehe… Bass-EFX is fantastic. The only DSP plugin always active, in my BBP! 😉

I don’t use it, because of the reasons which luke spelled. I have a lot of dance music going on, and then it sounds better without that plugin. All other plugins are in use 😉

That’s the beauty of plug-ins.. they allow customization for different tastes 😉.

I tested a bunch, and I found to be the best combination for consistency without taking away too much from impact…

    Clunk:1 (always)
    Slam:2
    Bass:2

And running Clunk/Slam 1st, with Bass-EFX next, then Breakaway (of course).

I also recommend putting one of the attenuation plugins before the rotation plugins, so that you leave some headroom for when the bass expands. The 3db attenuation one is good for that. 🙂

    Hi Jesse,

If you had to insert also the "phase rotator" and/or "phase tornado", in that position I would have to put them?

    Bye, thx. 🙂

    Jesse:

Would you add an attenuator even if you’ve set the mp3gain to 89.0 dB?

I would add an attenuator if it was needed, otherwise I wouldn’t. There are plenty of ways to test for clipping, and if it was clipping it would be needed, otherwise it wouldn’t.
