    Hi Leif

I’m running OtsAV with Breakaway as the ON AIR output device in OtsAV, outputing to a Soundblaster Live 24 bit external USB soundcard. My question is how do I configure Breakaway in order to use OtsAV’s Live Input feature http://www.otsav.com/doc/webdoc/using_otsav/audio_input_features/live_input_feature/how_to_set_up_an_external_device_through_live_input.htm in order to accept a live news feed which is delivered through the external soundcard’s Line In connection?

I’m not a live audience (as in nightclub) mobile DJ, nor an online web broadcaster. OtsAV is used in a home / venue closed circuit environment.

    Thanks in advance Leif.

    Hi Johnny!

Set it up by following the instructions on that page. 🙂

The only difference I can see is that once you’ve spawned the mixer record properties, you’ll have to go to Options and Properties, select Recording, and then select the actual sound card, so that you’ll be controlling the sound card instead of Breakaway Pipeline.

If OTSAV properly records the audio from the sound card, and then plays it into Breakaway Pipeline the same way it plays music, everything will just magically work.

    Best,

It does play the input through the pipeline, and yes it ‘magically’ works. 😉 (says the guy who managed over 60 Ots installations, the guy being me)

Thanks very much Leif and JesseG. I’ll give that a go. 8)

Yes, it does magically work! Thanks very much Leif and JesseG. The weird thing is that in order to work, the line in connection in the SB Mixer has to be muted and that was the bit I didn’t get yesterday! 😮 . Still mine is not to reason why, it magically works and that’s all that matters!

    Thanks again both 8)

Ah yes. If the sound card is allowed to pass through the line input to output, you’d be mixing two copies — one direct, unprocessed, and one delayed and processed.
