    Hello guys,

I have very nasty sound with both of these interfaces with BBP, I got 2 of them.
I’m using a Intel i7, 920@3.2 ghz with Windows 7, 64bit with 12Gb RAM with a MSI big bang motherboard.
I downloaded the latest drivers and updated the firmware.

I even placed a new PCI-e firewire card with Texas Instruments chipset.
And the problem remains, so I’m pretty desperate here.

When I’m playing tones straight from BBP over breakaway pipelines there seems to be no problem, look below for the audio file with test tones.

But when I route the signal to the Motu interfaces, I get this…

On low level volume you can hear the crackles very good.
I also use an old M-audio firewire audiophile, and there is no problem with that one. Even @higher samplerates.

So I’m done with troubleshooting 🙁

Anyone who can help me out here?

    Thanks.

Motu 828 mk3 is a hardware audio interface — I’ve had flawless results with two Windows 7 64-bit machines — one USB, one firewire.

    Hi Leif,

sent today a e-mail to Motu about the issue, the units are expensive enough to work in any condition.
I will be back with the feedback from them when it arrives.

    Thanks,
    Gunther

    [BIG EDIT]

After playing the interface for 12 hours, the problems remain, I removed all Motu drivers and the interfaces as well.
No more Motu for me 👿 Shame shame shame.

    [END EDIT]

    OK

a little update of the situation…
Motu couldn’t help resolve the problem, but I found a solution, thanks to reading a lot of bulletin boards.

The key is to follow these steps.

    1) removed all the drivers in the chain, including firewire, radio automatisation and the broadcast processor.

    2) Cleaned up the whole register, almost a clean start.

    3) First I installed the newest firewire drivers.

    5) Installed the latest Motu drivers, just like the owner manual suggested and tested the interface with all kind of sweeps on the intern audio interface, works well but not that great. There is still a crackle in the -60 dbfs zone, and that’s what is the flawless sound you suggested Leif? But I’m not sure it’s the computer or the interface.

    6) Installed a new version of Breakaway pipelines (Virtual Audio Cable) and the Broadcast processor as last.

    7) Swept all the test tones and sweeps trough the Motu via the Breakaway processor.

I got the stream back online and it sounds not bad, but still looking for a better alternative. I still have a ESI card in the computer with the BBP ASIO to feed the transmitter. I admit it’s a much better card than the firewire rubbish.

    Grtz from Belgium
