Hi,
I have been looking for documentation for Breakaway One. Could someone please lead me to the manual.
I need to know the http address to set in my playout system to have the metadata received by the Breakaway One stream encoder.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

May 13, 2019 at 10:13 am #15248Studio1MemberHi Timmy,
Thanks for your response.
I know I can use the text file option but in my situation I am better to use the URL but I can't even find any documentation about what port to use.
Is there no PDF or HTML manual for this software?
I notice in a post by Leif on April 19th 2018 when asked about a manual he replied.
quote :We're writing one. But, if a manual is absolutely critical for you, I'd hold off on purchasing until it's actually out.I am guessing that 13 months later there is still no manual?

1. Use a text file
2. copy a URL (simple an HTTP address where the text file is)So for the last option, I can recommend uploading the file to a dir on your website like https://www.yourwebsite.com/played/played.txt
In the APP goto HD Processor or Pass-through and then klick Streaming. In the Overview, you use the dropdown and type in the URL or pick the location of the local text file.
All the best and good luck!

Thanks for your reply.
What I want to do is use the http capability in my playout software to send the metadata to Breakaway One to add to the stream.
Thanks to Mr. Telos, as I was chatting to them about an Axia issue I mentioned this issue as well and this is the response to get it working. Maybe they could write a manual 🙂
In my playout software I enter in its metadata for streaming section: http://IP address of Breakaway One:8282/parameter/hd1/strm/metadata_strm=Put Your Artist – Title Variables Here. Works perfectly.
if only there was some type of manual to support the great features of the software it would make it so much easier to achieve the outcomes you want from it.
Thanks again to those who offered suggestions.

May 13, 2019 at 11:52 pm #15251MilkyKeymasterYou probably need to read or re-read this topic which covers the BA1 interface. http://www.forumclaessonedwards.com/forum/index.php/topic,5552.msg19512.html#msg19512
May 14, 2019 at 5:09 am #15252Studio1MemberHi Milky, Thanks for pointing that out.
I did a number of searches through these forums but most of my searches included the word "metadata" so your thread didn't turn up once.
Wouldn't it be nice if they had a manual with all these gems in it so we could exploit the great features the software has to use.
I'll explore more.

ScottMay 14, 2019 at 9:41 pm #15253MilkyKeymasterThe search engine isn't really that clever (unfortunately), so it is not the powerful tool it should be.
I agree that a manual would be handy, but Leif is a great code cutter, but not that strong in the manual department. Several have offered to contribute towards a manual, but there is so much in the package that most of us are not even aware of.
There's also the problem that, even if there is a manual, you have to find what you are looking for (similar to the search engine), so you may still miss the answer. Leif has made some application specific videos, and they are very good. We need him to use the same concept, but maybe go back to basics and start from installing the software to getting it up and running in various scenarios.
August 23, 2019 at 11:50 am #15254radiotek99MemberTimmy Wa, I am trying to read a plain txt file with updating artist and title info, with no result so far.
What do you have entered as the template to make it work successfullyThanks
GeorgeAugust 23, 2019 at 1:35 pm #15255timmywaParticipantGeorge,
My Station Playlist simply produces a plain text file with only this info:
Artist – Title – Album
I chose File or URL for Metadata Source in the Overview tab of the Stream section. I then fill out the full path of that file. BaOne magically senses the file change, reads the file, then pushes it to my server. Just have to be sure you're pointing BaOne to the fully correct file path. Mine is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\StationPlaylist\HTMLPlaylist\playingnow.txt
For example.
As far as your automation/playout system, I can only really speak of Station Playlist. I've not used any others. I would assume that most have the option to produce text files for Now Playing info. Just a matter of figuring it out.
Hope that helps.
August 23, 2019 at 3:59 pm #15256MrKloroxParticipantSometimes BreakawayOne needs to be run as administrator to read files in protected folders (such as 'Program Files'). I don't know if this is an issue when using the service.
August 24, 2019 at 12:56 am #15257radiotek99MemberOk.
Sorted.
I was trying to read the file from a network file. Tried both the unc location, and a mapped drive, but no joy.
The solution was to copy the file to the local drive on the machine running breakawayone.
As soon as I did that it read the file immediately. This system is using Zetta for playout. The RCS guys used a utility called RCS glue which has a number of tools to read the now playing info and post it to ftp or a local file txt or xml.
I changed to config to to the file on update to a share on the breakawayone computer and all good now.We set up breakawayone to replace an aged Omnia FM3 which no longer responded to controls.
As well as an unbelievable difference in sound using "the regulator", we have RDS, and low latency local audio.thanks for your fast reponses.
