I’ve read a few posts at the Marian forum and it looks like they may not yet have drivers to support the Windows 7, 64 bit environment. Can anyone shed some light on this? Would it be best to wait on ordering a Marian sound card? Or is there a workaround to this issue?
Thanks for your thoughts,
Michael

[/quote]I’ve emailed both the American dealer and directly to Mairan’s website. I’ll post when I hear something. Meanwhile…
Here’s the post from September 30 at Marian’s forum:
Dear MARIAN Users,
we agree, the situation of not having 64bit drivers is a very unfortunate one and not at all pleasant. Neither for our customers nor for us. We are very sorry having to announce that the planned release date had to be rescheduled for the first quarter of 2011. Why was this necessary?
The new 64bit driver was planned as a general makeover of the MARIAN driver concept. That was because the changes that had to be applied included fundamental restructuring of the driver making it necessary to rethink it thoroughly. This, admitted, is a project that smaller companies like MARIAN, can not do within a month or two. Especially since other projects came up, the release plan had to be postponed over and over again. What are these other projects? Well, one of the main jobs of a company is keeping itself running. This can only be done with new products. And as much as we like products as e.g. the Marc 8 MIDI (which has been around since 1999!!!) it is sometimes hard to support them over such long time spans. So, currently the resources had also been used to start our new PCIe card series. Because, lets face it, if we don’t sell new products, none of our products will receive any update any more. But, as mentioned in previous posts, WE WILL PUBLISH A 64BIT DRIVER. And it will be a little more than anyone expected. As described above, we a working on a unified driver model – that means, it will be ONE driver for ALL products. Apart from the apparent increase of comfort of the installation process, this is especially interesting for users of several different MARIAN cards, because then it will be possible to use ALL MARIAN SOUNDSYSTEMS with ONE (ASIO) driver. Full clock and Full Start/Stop synchronization ensured! Formerly the multicard operation of different card types was really limited to Windows XP, since the audio structure of windows vista and 7 did not allow for a reliable synchronization of different devices (audio devices). With the new driver, you can use any combination of MARIAN soundsystems perfectly synchronized via the ASIO driver.
Another aspect is, that due to the unified driver design and a common driver source code base, future updates and improvements will be much faster and instantaneously available for all sound systems, at once.Maybe our faithful customers can accept this preview as a small token and excuse for still having to wait a little more. And maybe they have a little sympathy for a company that also had some trouble in the past caused by the financial and economic crisis – but survived and is currently more active than ever, trying to continue the support that these users expect.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!The MARIAN Team.

I received a reply a couple of days ago from Marian. It gives the same info that I’ve seen elsewhere but it’s great that they got back to me:
thank you for your message and the interest in our products.
It is correct, that the card does not have a 64bit driver yet – it will thus work only in a 32 bit environment. The development of the 64bit version in progress. We expect the driver to be released within the next 3/4 months.
Concerning price and shipment cost our sales department will contact you again.Mit freundlichen Grüßen | With best regards

ESI has their drivers up to date after a short time. Very strange and not very good service from Marian.Grtz
GuntherJanuary 18, 2011 at 6:39 am #11719JesseGMemberbeing a coder myself, i understand not just how good of an idea it is to rethink things since their current architecture would have been a flub-fest to get working in 64bit, but that they are re-writing their whole drivers from scratch AND making them a unified thing,… I also see the payoff once it’s completed. They explained all of this (in that email above), and how it will facilitate very quick and very efficient updates to their drivers. 😉
I would say they delayed a long time, if anyone actually used XP 64bit, or if Vista wasn’t total crap. 😉 But with 7 yeah they still delayed a bit. They have been working on drivers for many months now tho, so it’s not like they are just sitting around and waiting to plop out a 64bit driver when they have a spare 2 days.
Hang on to your Trace Gunther. It’s not going anywhere, and will continue to be a great audio card for a long time, when many companies simply leave old products behind, Marian is updating all products with completely re-written unified drivers. I have to give them props for that. Not all companies do, case in point Apogee. I have thousands of $$ in Apogee gear, and none of it has drivers for Vista/7 at all. I’m still using XP for the ASIO in my Rosettas, but I’ll continue using the default audio drivers in my Minis on 7, for mastering latency isn’t really important. Just sayin’… and i still don’t feel "burned" by Apogee at all. It’s just the way things go sometimes.
I probably will sell my Rosettas to someone using OSX, and switch to RME, at some point.
January 22, 2011 at 11:43 pm #11720GuntherMMemberI sold my Orban pc1100 too quickly it seems
I still have a ESI juli@ in that machine and in case of emergency I can use 1 spare Motu 828 mk3.I just read that Marian is well known in the more expensive broadcast processors, that’s awesome quality for that price it seems.
I just have to wait for their updates.
Grtz
GuntherFebruary 28, 2011 at 11:23 am #11721didacParticipantSo far I have used Juli@, but because I need ASIO multistream to get the line in audio with 2 different softwares, I asked for a Marian Trace Alpha and I will receive within 2 days.
It is unfortunate that not even 64-bit driver.
Is truce that Trace Alpha doesn’t require tilt adjustment?
Any other adjustment is required?Thanks!
May 15, 2011 at 7:11 pm #11722GuntherMMemberHi all,
here is an update for the 64-bit drivers… Message is sent to me app. 4 weeks ago from Marian.de.
Dear ****,
thank you for your message.
We are very sorry for the delay in the availability of the 64bit driver.
Currently there is no specific release date planned for the Trace Alpha – it will be decided within the next 2 weeks. Please contact me again and I can give you more precise information.Mit freundlichen Grüßen | With best regards

Email: http://www.marian.deSeems I have to sell my trace alpha because of waranty issues. I’m very dissapointed in Marian to be honnest. ESI audio was a lot faster with updates from 64bit drivers. It seems all the trace alpha users aren’t precedence for Marian.
It’s pity you can only build 1 ESI Juli@ card in your system.
I have to search a alternative PCI card.
Just wanted to share this info.grtz
GuntherMay 16, 2011 at 5:12 am #11723JesseGMemberThe 64 bit drivers represents a complete recode of ALL of their drivers, into a unified driver. So this effects ALL of their customers. I’m glad they are hopefully taking the time to do it right, instead of rushing and releasing buggy crap. I’m hoping that’s what’s happening. I think we’ll find out what the real story is soon though.
November 6, 2011 at 3:43 am #11724BokiMemberStill no drivers…
recently i needed to update from xp 32bit to 64bit .. and now i can’t use my trace Alpha…
Also, BA Asio is not working with their latest driver (from few days ago). Only with v2.02.November 15, 2011 at 2:50 am #11725bennylein1985MemberI´m waiting too for 64bit trace pro drivers.
WTF ?!?!?
