I have successfully installed this on my Desktop for evaluation, but despite my best efforts I cannot get it installed on my laptop and I have tried EVERYTHING. I was in the pro audio reinforcement business for over 50 years, and this gem has restored some of my stuffed up hearing damage, as I'm hearing passages and little accents I have never heard from my 25,000 strong MP3 etc library, and I really need it on my laptop to do some music playback on a big system. And it's not just "loudness wars" – please, I know the difference. This really improves the dynamic range of some naff MP3's for sure.
I get to this: "Error opening Breakaway Pipeline for test tone output!" And that's it – can't get past it, no matter what I try.
Another visitor here Pyle something asked this question but for different reasons, some 9 months ago and didn't even get a reply, so I'm hoping I can send the cash to Breakaway for the DJ version, once I get the darned thing installed on the laptop. (and yes, I have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled a thousand times.) I am using IDT High Def sound but it is not a soundcard as such.
Please help.

November 10, 2013 at 8:03 pm #5519BaronMemberThe "Bypass/Manage" line seems to be missing on my set up page shown here on the website. http://www.claessonedwards.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=1089
Is this important to the setup? If so, where can it be?
Thanks for your help. 16 views – someone must know?
November 18, 2013 at 1:21 am #5520JesseGMemberThe config doesn't have a bypass, nor a manage anything within it. Are you sure you're looking at Expert Mode of the config? It's a button on the bottom-left of the Wizard version of the config.
That being said, you should make your computer's default soundcard one of the "Breakaway Pipeline" soundcards, reboot the computer to make sure that nothing set to use the default soundcard is still using it. Then you can try setting the soundcard, and optimizing latency, in Expert Mode config. I highly recommend "KS" Kernel Streaming to access the soundcards, as you'll be able to get lower latency and ~guarantee a 1:1 bit accurate output from Breakaway's (multi-phasic adaptive) SRC (or you could use it without SRC, but I can't recommend that, even though I don't use it myself).
For some settings on a large-scale system…
preset: Reference Movies
range: 25 (higher if your input is less than -18 LKFS)
power: 100
speed: 15
Try Reference Jazz if it's still too processed sounding. 🙂 I used to "run" a 180kwatt Turbosound setup, so I recognize that even with these settings, it can potentially effect impact. REAL punch 😉 not the complete opposite that most people call "punch" these days. But those settings should be pretty bangin'.Please send pics of Breakaway @ your FoH with a sightline in the background some time. 🙂
