I just want to start off by saying this software is amazing. I am using the trial. My use of the software is a bit different then the traditional broadcast usage. I'm actually using this to pre mix rap vocals. Not sure how this program works its magic but the neutral voice preset is a great starting point. I was wondering if any of you utilize this software for your recording studio. I'm looking for a preset which provides spectral balance without the vocals sounding overly driven, Overly bright, And overly trebly. The nuetral voice is good, but i find 5 bands work a little better than the 3. Im using the 'smooth' preset tweaked a bit to process vocals.

Just open it in 7-zip (https://www.7-zip.org/) and look around until you find the "am_presets" folder (
sorry I don't have the patch handyIt's in "omnia9_updater_3.18.99.pak\d:\Omnia9\"; adjacent to the "music_presets" folder). I believe these are all presets for voice. Just make sure you choose one with 5 or fewer bands so Breakaway can make it sound like it's supposed to. You can open them in a text editor to see how many bands it uses.Good luck!
June 27, 2019 at 12:14 pm #15267DonnytenMemberThank you. Ill check it out.
Ive been spending a few hours with BAOne. Ive decided to keep most of the in the daw because i cant find a way to make One ease on the processing , everything keeps sounding over processed.
Is there a way to just mute certain bands? At this point i only want one to compress the mid high- high end a bit without touching anythiing else
June 27, 2019 at 2:16 pm #15268MrKloroxParticipantIt would be awesome if, when importing a preset with more than 5 bands, we were given the option to choose whether we wanted the upper five or the lower five. Even cooler would be a way to toggle individual bands on/off (up to 5 on) instead of only a complete bypass.
As far as muting certain bands, you can try reading the Omnia 9 manual (https://www.telosalliance.com/images/Omnia%20Products/Omnia%209/Omnia9_Audio_Processing_Manual_Book_C18315032.pdf) to help reverse engineer the preset files once you find one that's almost exactly what you want. Deleting all the lines referring to the lower three bands is probably not going to get you where you want to be, but I'd start there, knowing almost nothing about how this thing works.
Remember to keep backups and report back what you encounter!

I think I may invest in stereo tool. All the bands are fully configurable and "The BIMP" seems like a pretty interesting tool. Some of the multiband settings in BA are pretty weird. Another cool thing about st is that it has little pop ups for each option that gives an explanation as to what it does. I find BA to be mostly guess work aside from the obvious settings
June 28, 2019 at 4:59 pm #15270MrKloroxParticipantI use the ST plugin inside of breakaway's VST host for Declipping and a little extra processing. Stereo Tool and Breakaway are great flavors that taste best together, imho.
June 28, 2019 at 5:54 pm #15271DonnytenMemberAnything like THE BIMP in BA? Do you have any experience with this add on?Ive yet to try it but it sounds fantastic to my ears
In the video below Looking to replicate this sound, or i may try to demo it later. If i get similiar results im SOLD.June 28, 2019 at 11:54 pm #15272MrKloroxParticipantI don't use the BIMP, actually. I use a second Breakaway HD core in Trial mode (with another instance of Stereo Tool as a VST plugin — unnecessary but it's handy if I want extra processing on the input) to process my microphone. If I'm not mistaken, the BIMP is mainly a secondary core for ST that you use for mic processing while the main instance of ST is there to process your game audio or radio playout (for streamers or broadcasters) and solutions like that. I don't think it has any extra processing effects that don't come with a standard ST license for the VST plugin. Using Breakaway to host ST allows you to use ST like a BIMP for less than it would cost to add the BIMP to your license ($150 for an HD core vs $200 for BIMP addon).
It might even work with a passthrough core ($30) instead of a full on HD core,
but I haven't tried. It totally works with a pass-through core.My use of BAO for microphone processing is in voice chat during games. So I'm not as particular about how I sound as one would be when mastering rap vocals. But I know I have the power to make myself sound amazing if I tried. Again, ST+BAO is like a Reese's cup for your ears.

If there's any values that aren't there, it'll just use the defaults for those settings.
So I'm not as particular about how I sound as one would be when [mixing] rap vocals. Honestly in this case, it's down to preference for the sound quality AND for workflow/ergonomics. Some say Breakaway has much better ergonomics, nothing else considered, for the actual usage of the processing itself. But considering that the workflow is happening primarily in a DAW, Stereo Tool having a VST version actually could be a big deal to the specific workflow/ergonomics goals of someone.August 24, 2019 at 1:06 pm #15274MrKloroxParticipant

I see. Will it default to the Reference Settings default or will it try to set back to the preset default based on the "base_preset" hash or whatever you'd call it? What if that base_preset line isn't in the file? Would setting stuff to 0 be the correct way to nullify effects?
edit: The correct way to nullify the sound processing seems to be to use the 2Band or 5Band Protection presets. Maybe start there if you want to tweak from "scratch"
