First off, I have to say, WOW. Having been on the internet since Dec 93′, I’ve seen A LOT of apps come and go. Very rarely do I purchase software. I can count on one hand the apps I’ve purchased.
This would make number five I think. Anyways, my question is, with this "hardware id" I guessing this is something along the lines that Windows uses when people register their copy of windows. A hardware id is generated based on their hardware and their product key is tied to this hardware id. Here is my problem. I’m a PC builder, I build my own computers with constant upgrades taking place and thus, this "hardware id" is always changing for me. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to call into Microsoft to re-register my copy of Windows.
I cannot afford the $29 dollars if my product key is going to go bad six months down the road when I upgrade a video card, add a video card, more memory, different memory, another harddrive or replace a harddrive out-right, etc etc etc.
Can you address this concern?

I know where you’re coming from. Yes, the Hardware ID is similar to Windows Activation, and indeed, if you upgrade your computer enough that the hardware ID changes, it will need a new activation.
However, we make it easy. Customer satisfaction is #1 on our list – so when you’ve upgraded, all you have to do is shoot us an e-mail with the new Hardware ID and we’ll just give you a new activation code. This is unlimited (in the same sense that broadband internet is) – so no worries.
At end-of-life for the product, we’ll likely make an unlocked version available to previous customers.

///Leif[/quote]hopefully u have a precedure for the highly unlikely chance that all of the breakaway crew decide to go to vegas and bet the $200,000+ u guys have probably already made, and the f-in plane crashes. i dont mean to sound callus but u never know man, i hope nothing bad ever happens to you or anyone u know. And if u decide to go to vegas; go by boat/train, the scenery should make up for the extended travel time.// Maybe hand out some authed copies on the down-low 😉
p.s So me changing a video card, sound card, etc. would alter my hardware id? or would i only have to call Lief as often as i call Mlcro$0ft?

We do have some redundancy implemented. ClaessonEdwards is Leif Claesson (me) and Keith Edwards. Geographical independencee – he’s in California, I’m in Thailand. So, as long as we don’t get hit by BOTH an Earthquake and a Tsunami, we should be fine. Neither of us are into gambling, although I do go to vegas every year for the NAB convention (National Association of Broadcasters). 🙂
Changing your sound card, video card or hard drive is not supposed to invalidate your serial number. The hardware ID is based on CPU type and Bios serial number – that’s all.
However, I didn’t write the protection code myself – I licensed it, so I can’t know for sure. The safeguard is that we’re generous with new activations – we’re human, and don’t always trust computers. 🙂
