I’d realy like to know if anyone has a suggestiuon on how to tweak BA Live to get a sound that has bass part like stream of radio seven? http://www.radioseven.se
It looks like all bass energy is focused arround same frequencys – no matter what source audio is processed… and it is tuned perfectly for dance tracks – masive boosted, but in a nice way…
Thanks for all your suggestions… 🙂

I DJed a lot on that station when they first started, about 10 years ago!
A large part of the characteristic sound of OctiMax / Volume Logic came from my problematic crossover design, which caused multiband mixdown cancellation, causing dynamic frequency dips between bands depending on what gains the different bands had in relation to each other. This caused attenuation particularly in the upper mid vocal range, which was impossible to tweak around. I finally solved the problem in Breakaway with a brand new crossover design 🙂.

Hey Leif! Peter (or as you might remember me, Lennart) from R7 here. 🙂 Congrats to all your (well-deserved!) success with Breakaway and Omina 9!
We’re actually using Breakaway Live nowadays (we bought it 1-2 years ago I think).. Although we might still use OctiMax during occasional live broadcasts, most of our broadcasting is done by Breakaway. When we started using OctiMax it was a huge boost in soundquality for our station, but now Breakaway has been taking our sound to the next level. 🙂
(I’m now dreaming a little bit of having centralized processing of all broadcasts using an Omina 9 though.. 😛 )
As for Davids question, I’m not going to tell you exactly what settings we’re using, since we would like to keep our sound as unique as possible. But I guess it’s not that hard to figure out what preset we’re using by listening and trying different presets in BA Live.. (We have tweaked the settings a bit though, of course)

I knew Radio 7 used special version of Ocitmax engine years ago, but did not know that they are using BA now. Nice surprise.
I am familiar with Octimax and also Volume Logic – been folowing software audio processing market and specialy your work Lief for some time now. 🙂Well I run a dance web station and we are also using BA Live for a few months now.
You can listen to it here: http://212.18.63.51:9000/listen.pls
Very pleased with the way long term listening factor improved sice we implemented it.Maybe you guys could listen to it and let me know what you think…
Best regards, David

I wouldn’t touch much else. Breakaway Live is acceptible for streaming. Just watch the quality of the files infront of it.
Today with HDD’s cheap as use waves! Stuff converting to mp3’s unless you realy need to.
