Used this hardware version in the past with orban 8000 and 8100a models, gives it darn good kick.Lots of station still use these,it is a current box.You will be LOUD…

MemberGotta keep that modulation under 100 per cent.Cannot overdrive it,that’s what some stations did.It can be clean, loud and legal if set up right. This is Eric Small’s box, he’s a processing whiz….Once a year you need to check the pilot, make sure it’s 9 per cent.I walked in a xmtr shack one day and the red light was just a glowing, NOT GOOD.Of course i expected that as i was listening to the signal coming in.

MemberPersonally in this day & age, I wouldn’t run the box. Imho it’s NOT current at all. It was first introduced in the 1980s so…
Anyways, when used with Breakaway BBP I know the gain in loudness would not be much, but the loss in clarity would be huge. And once the Breakaway hardware comes out with the MPX clipping, forget about it. (but it’s still only a 1-2db gain in loudness)

MemberSome mods have been done along the way.5532’s replaced with LME49720’s.Made a huge difference. Also more current caps have been used as well.Box was meant for older processors and with today’s newer digital boxes, you wouldn’t need it.

Memberso,
finnaly,at this time the only "fm Advanced mpx clippers" are on Omnia and Orban ( hardware ) and Stereotool ( software) ?
any other program or hardware?

MemberI haven’t heard the new Stereo Tool. But from Orban and Omnia’s current *public* offerings, I wouldn’t call any of their MPX clippers "advanced". There are some upcoming products that are more advanced which I am not at liberty to discuss.
And like Leif said… let’s hear what they sound like with glockenspiel and other hard to process material.

MemberThe Broadcast Warehouse "DSP" series of FM processors have a variable MPX clipping function in them. Over about .5 db & you can make the box sound HORRIBLE! But… if loudness is all you’re after, there’s another option for you.
