Error Code- Pipeline won’t install

Tried installing the home version, that is, the $29.99 program. Got an error message that
the Breakaway Pipeline won’t install. This is an Acer One netbook, 32bit, running Windows 7
Starter. For what it’s worth, I somehow lost the line-in/stereo mix/what you hear function on my soundcard somehow, so programs like Audacity are useless as well. So any advice any one can give would be welcomed. Windows won’t let me roll back or update the sound card drivers, which is the first thing I thought of trying. Kinda bummed that now that I can afford to buy this, I can’t seem to use it. Again, any advice is welcomed.
