I had signed up for Google’s GrandCentral a few years ago when it was first released. I got a local phone number with voicemail. The idea is to have a master phone number to be able to reach you on your mobile phone or office or home phone. Just yesterday, I got an email that Google has re-launched GrandCentral as Google Voice.
I set it up to just be a voicemail for my station. I don’t have it ring any phones and it just emails me when I get a message and I can play the audio right there, in the email. We have a station here in Salt Lake City, My99.5, its a Clear Channel fully automated HotAC that uses song-tagging that identifies each song. To aid in it’s interactivity, they have a voicemail setup and promote it so listeners can call in requests or tell a joke or whatever. They end up playing a lot of those messages over the air as sweepers and song intros. This is where I got the idea. To get started, head to http://www.google.com/voice
This is not any sort of advertising or spam. Just found an idea that I wanted to share with my fellow webcasters, here at the Breakaway Forums. Hope you find this useful.
