MemberI would like to use Breakaway Live to process all audio coming out of my receiver – cable box, DVD player, CD player, etc.
Since I’m using a laptop, I’ve installed a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 USB sound card after downloading the proper drivers for my OS (Win7 64). I’m using the tape monitor output of the receiver to feed audio to the Audigy, and running the output of the Audigy back to the tape monitor input.
I got Breakaway to process the audio – I can see and hear it – after a lot of fiddling around with the inputs and outputs. I finally settled on Wave In and Out.
I have also selected the Audigy for my Line In and Line Out default settings in the Sound portion of the Control Panel.
Here’s the problem: I’m hearing the output of Breakaway AND the unprocessed audio from the receiver – and output of Breakaway is delayed slightly, causing an echo effect.
I need to figure out how to eliminate hearing the unprocessed audio altogether, and eliminate the delay from Breakway so that the audio and video match up.
There’s a delay control in the Breakaway settings, but it’s already set to minimum. Increasing this, of course, makes the delay even longer.
I get the feeling I’m doing something really simple wrong, but I’m stuck…
Help, anyone?

MemberChange from "Wizard" mode to "Expert" mode, for starters…
Then you have a much better control over the latency. I recommend Kernel Streaming, if your card supports that, cos you should be able to get a much lower latency out of that before it starts breaking up. But whatever allows you to get the lowest latency, use that. Of course.
And then just do a lot of trial and error with the buffer size & count… first on the input, with a larger output, so that you can get the input as low as it’ll go without skipping. Then work on optimizing the output. You may have to add 1-2 more buffers to the input on the extreme of the output buffer sizes, but if the overall size gets lower then it’s worth it.
As far as muting the line input, that’s in the Soundblaster’s mixer, where you can also disable all of the "sound effects" they have. You’ll want to mute the line-in on the playback side, and set the record side to be line in.

MemberThanks Jesse!
I did eliminate the problem of hearing both the pre- and post-processed audio by using the output of the laptop’s sound card (Realtek) instead. I’ve got some work to do on the other suggestions – thank you for the help!

GuestI also experienced the same trouble with my home theater as you have today. But before everything will get worse, I changed my Wizard to Expert mode. From that time, I can proudly say that my breakaway live setup is now working.
