    Hello,

i have a situation, where I need a 50m long cable between Link Transmiter and Computer with Brakeaway Broadcast Processing to send full MPX signal.

I know that this would be best done if the units would be symmetricaly connected but my soundcard output does not have that option – only assymetrical output – the input on the link transmitter has symmetrical input tough.

So I think I need a DI BOx on the computer side that is frequency and phase wise linnear from 10Hz to 100KHz. ?

What do you guys think – is this kind of connection possible? Is there any other solution – active DI BOX ?

    Thank you and best regards,
    David

    Update:

I did a little searching on the topic and found out that the best way would be to use Coaxial cable – such as RG58 /59.
(I attached screenshoot of the orbans datasheet where i found some info on that topic…)
The problem begins when the capacity of the line begins to rise above 0,047uF. So with RG58/59 the fun ends at aprox 30 meters…. after that stereo separation starts to deteriorate noticably…
    RG58 has 100pF/1m

    How about RG114 (27pF/m) or RG 63 (33pF/m) cable ?

Any advice would be apriceated. 😀

    Best regards,
    David

Thinking outside the box, would a 2.4 or 5.8 wireless link have the bandwidth?

Anyway, do not try RG58 but try RG213.
Once it helped with 60-65m. You might still have mpx overshots, even with that cable.

Wireless is unfortionaly not an option.

Boki – i checked – RG213 also has 100pF/m so I guess this would cause the same effect as RG58 or 59 regardig stereo separation…

RG114 looks very good regarding capacity- but there is a catch – it has 185 OHM impendance – can this cause a problem with composite MPX audio signals?

Thanx for all the input and best regards,
    David

it would be best if you can borrow few types of cable and try yourself. I never used more then 50ohm cables so i don’t know.

    Check cfd/lmr-200/300
