    Hi all,

I wondered if anybody here has tried operating the Breakaway software (professional or domestic grade) on a Windows CE or Embedded IPC.

The idea I had was to run an IPC with a USB audio interface as a standalone processor for a non-profit, volunteer operated FM radio station. My hypothesis is that the inherent speed and stability of an IPC (with SSD) along with the obvious space-saving and power consumption benefits might make it possible to construct a low-cost processor for this purpose or indeed as a potential component of an in-car audio installation.

The hardware requirements specified on the website make no mention of WinCE/Embedded OS so I wondered if this was an oversight or if it had been tested by Leif/Jesse or other Breakaway users.

    All the best,

For an embedded Windows OS, it’s recommended to use XP Embedded. Windows CE doesn’t even use an NT kernel. It’s not an oversight because it’s not an option.

Thank you Jesse for the fast reply and advice. I will construct a system for testing using Windows XP embedded as you suggest.

Thanks again and all the best.

On the cheap, the higher end Atom dual cores can run BBP (Breakaway Broadcast) in "Low CPU" mode.

The clipping isn’t as hard/strict which someone might prefer too I guess. At least for the BBP that’s out now.

Why not on Embedded Windows 7 Standard (Win 7 Thin PC)?
