Hi,
For a local public TV station i’m looking for a way to proces the audio on the TV channel, its currently unprocessed and has a lot of volume difference in it.
Is there a breakaway product that is suitable for this need? Was thinking about BW Live myself. And does anyone have experience with processing TV audio with Breakaway? It seems that the presets in Breakaway are made for Radio trough.
August 26, 2009 at 2:31 pm #8187LeifKeymasterBreakaway Live is an excellent choice — it will do exactly what you’re looking for.
"Reference Settings", "Reference Jazz". or "Reference Classical" will work great for general TV programming.
I do actually have a lot of experience with TV processing, Linear Acoustic’s Aero.air products are actually my algorithms. However, those products are in a different league, and priced as such. If you’re just looking for good stereo audio processing, you’ll get far with just Breakaway Live.
Best,

But first thing to do is replace our current FM chain* with BW Broadcast 🙂 Then its the TV’s time.
Regards,
Ray* Its not a "chain" to be honest… its a computer running the built in AGC (5band) processing from SAM Broadcaster with audiostocker in front 😳 Interesting setup, isnt it?
August 26, 2009 at 7:21 pm #8189LeifKeymasterLOL, Audiostocker.. Now that’s been a while 😀.
Good luck with the setup! Please post a stream link once you’ve got BBP up and running on the FM so we can tune in 😉.

August 26, 2009 at 7:24 pm #8190X-HostedMemberDont think that audiostocker does a lot, the built in processing (AGC) and clipper in SAM Broadcaster does most of the magic 😉
However, i do expect BW Broadcast to sound better.

It’s not even a comparison, BBP annihilates it.
And re: the AGC in SAM4’s audio path… it can be disabled independently of the 5-band processor. That happens to be what could probably be called SoundSolution v1.9 😉
August 28, 2009 at 11:05 am #8192LeifKeymasterJesse, when reading his post I actually assumed it was a poor choice in acronym 🙂.
I think he meant BreakaWay Broadcast.
The coincidence might be a big of a stretch in other contexts, but it’s the only way it makes sense within the context of the post.

August 31, 2009 at 7:48 am #8195AdamHMemberJust wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I’ve been using Live in our home theater setup (2-channel) for about 6 months now. I cannot put into words how much it has improved everyday viewing. It processes everything that we see (cable, DVR, and Blu-Ray), and you really cannot appreciate the difference it makes until you press ‘Bypass’. Even my wife, who could care less about the technical side (although, she is slowly becoming an audiophile and doesn’t even know it), refuses to watch TV without "the thing turned on".
I use Zenith at a higher power setting, but with a lower range setting (20, I think). This prevents unnatural changes in volume.
But let me tell you what the best part is…. COMMERCIALS DON’T BLARE!!! Leif, I’m fairly certain that you could make a killing in this arena if that powerful core could be put into a small box (like the size of an clock radio). That would make the processor accessible to just about anyone! But I know that there are more variables at work here not necessarily visible to the naked eye.
