I am currently using VAC to broadcast my Live programs with SAM & Skype. I came across his forum in search of a solution to my horrible static problem during live call interviews. I am soooo going to purchase Breakaway Audio Enhancer in a matter of moments becasue 29.99 is NOTHING if this program can elimiate the static and improve my live interviews. But, I know I will need some set up information because there are a couple of things that I was not clear on.

    1) Should VAC be deleted before installation?
    2) Are there specific instructions somewhere to make sure the SAM and Skype are fed to the right places??
    Finally
    3) Will I be required to make "adjustments" to volume or will the set up instructions cover this question for me? I did find an attachment on the answer to another question.

Any help would be great! I have had some amazing interviews that were FILLED with static and the listeners could not enjoy it at all. But, the calls were crystal clear for me and the other person on skype. Also the recording of the interview was horribly filled with the same static the live listeners heard.

It cannot. There are some decent "click & pop" type effects out there though, mainly as VST, which can sometimes do a good job. It depends on the specific nature of the noise, mainly if there was gear/effects responding to it.

For processing audio (live or recorded), Breakaway Live is a better option imo, because you’re not limited to outputting only to real soundcards. You can output directly to a VAC/Pipeline, and be sure there’s nothing being added or changed or resampled by your soundcard. It does cost more, but you get more like the ability to set final drive (density), a killer stereo enhancer, and a decently equipped speaker controller (EQ, delay, filters, protection limiters, etc).

It is up to you. Breakaway uses a licensed version of VAC, and both can run OK side by side.

Not that I know of, but it’s simple common-sense audio routing.

The main part is to maintain proper gain staging, so that you never run out of headroom and clip the signal into 0dB. On the other hand, for analog gear, there is a noise floor to consider as well. So a balance of headroom and noise is where you’ll find your sweet spot at.

Yeah, sounds like an issue with whatever you used to record it, perhaps with the buffering. Why don’t you upload like 30 seconds of it here, in WAV format please? I would check it out.
