Hi there guys!
I’ve been playing around with Breakaway Live lately, and it occurred to me i can use iZotope Ozone 4 as a stereo exciter (if you don’t know what that is: it’s used to make the stereo signal sounding more wide, or exciting of you will 🙂). And to cut right to the case: It sounds absolutely breathtaking!!
I grabbed the latest Winamp VST Host from christian’s site (http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/?page_id=248), and used it to wrap iZotope VST as an fx plugin. You can play around with the infinite amount of settings but i just took a preset and modified it 😉
Ofcourse you can use Ozone for eq-ing, reverb etc. too, just don’t use the loudness maximizer because it uses somekind of limiter, which Breakaway has by itself and you don’t want to be double-processing!

http://www.dhbeatz.nl/sample.mp3Wow, way too wide. And Ozone isn’t program dependent. When used in broadcasting (set & forget) it will arbitrarily widen everything the same, no matter how wide or narrow it already is. There’s much better and more listenable ways to do this, like the Sparticus VST.
At the very least, don’t widen so much, and don’t widen anything under like 150 Hz. In fact you might want to narrow the bass some. I’m not sure how fast the crossovers are on that part of Ozone, but be aware of that too.
Back to using spartacus again, you were completely right! I guess my ears were just a little tired because i can clearly hear the difference now. Still using the EQ and the multiband compressor though 😉
