Another newbie question. I promise I’ll chill out once I get things set.
I’ve looked through older posts on this topic but if I’m understanding correctly, most were going through soundcards.
In my situation, I have two instances of Station Playlist. I’ve successfully been running one with Breakaway Live going into oddcast and directly out with no soundcard involved in the stream.
My preference is to add a second instance of Breakaway Live for the other station (obviously, there would be a second license…that’s not my question).
Is it possible to use a second dbs plugin for the other station and do this? Could you perhaps use the Breakaway Pipline Control Panel and route one set of cables to the first instance and route another set of cables to the second instance?
Thanks again for any advice.

January 16, 2011 at 10:45 pm #11785sneradioMemberThere are multiple versions of live Livelink, each related to an instance of BA-Live.For example dsp_livelink1.dll handles the first pipeline, dsp_livelink2.dll handles the 2nd one. At least in theory…I only have one station at the moment but that’s my understanding…
January 17, 2011 at 1:03 am #11786earshotMemberAgain, Dave, thanks for reaching out.
Doing two stations, I’m probably trying to run before I can crawl but I’ve been having fun putting this stuff together. SPL and Breakaway have been two of the best things I’ve run across in a long time.
Yeah, when I try to download another copy of Breakaway Live into a different folder, it gets cranky because it sees it already running. But when I was fumbling around before you helped me out the first time, I somehow got two instances of Breakaway Live on the screen. That was when I had moved all 8 dps plugins to the SPL folder and had two of them checked.
That was for the same station though. Which is why, I stopped at that point and posted here before I got myself into trouble.
Thanks again,
Michael
January 17, 2011 at 7:16 am #11787earshotMemberSeveral hours later and the two instances of Breakaway Live have been "playing nicely" with Station Playlist Studio and with oddcast.
In case this might help someone else down the road, the first thing I did was stop SPL in BOTH stations and disconnected both instances of oddcast from the web. Then:
1. I pulled Breakaway Live’s second dps plugin into the second station’s SPL plugin folder.
2. Configured it in SPL’s output like I did with the first station, just as Dave described in the other thread.
3. In oddcast, Pipeline 2 is going in, Line 3 going out. (In the first station’s oddcast, Pipeline 1 going in, Line 3 going out).
4. In Breakaway’s I/O page, I configured the input/output for the two plugins accordingly.Sure enough, the second Breakaway Live box popped up as "Live 2." For both stations, I started the automation, clicked "connect" in oddcast’s two instances and it was off to the races. Again this is configured with audio going directly to the encoder and out, with no sound card involved.
Next will be buying Breakaway Live’s licenses for two instances (they give discounts for multiple instance purchases).
I’ve listened through computer speakers, earbuds and the ultimate test…through my iPhone, connected to the car stereo with one of those cheap FM transmitters that are about the worst thing you can try to push music through. Even with that, it sounds great. It should be fun playing with the settings.
Dave, thanks again for helping out a newbie. Otherwise, I would still be trying to configure SPL and Breakaway! Hopefully, I’ll be able to pay it forward at some point.
One other thing: I saw this in an earlier thread…if it’s ever feasible to create a Breakaway for iPhones and iPods, I’ll be in (virtual) line at the iTunes store to download!
