About BBP/BBP ASIO 17.5 / 18.0 / 20.0 KHz bandwidth selection, does it change something in MP3 recommandation for streaming in 128 or 192k.
    ?
If we stream in 192k, do I need to change the bandwith selection for better result ?

    Hi Leif

    Thank you ferry much

    I try it 😀

Guillou, possibly, but make sure not to set the bandwidth in BBP higher than the bandwidth in the encoder, as this causes overshoots and downstream clipping. If the encoder’s low pass filter is at 18000 Hz, it’s probably best to set the processor to 17500 Hz.

    Parelduiker, thank you 🙂.

How is the low-CPU BBP coming? I recall you mentioning a verion of BBP running on an Atom. Is that still forthcoming?

    Thanks,

Already done, Stuart! You can choose Low CPU mode in the I/O settings. It uses about 60% of an Atom N280.

I think you meant to say:

    quote :

make sure not to set the bandwidth in BBP higher than the bandwidth in the encoder, as this causes overshoots and downstream clipping

but you sort of explained what you meant right after, so hopefully people got it. Just clarifying.

Really? Hmm. I had tried that on my P4 2.4 Ghz and get 40-70% util on it while using that setting. Changing the setting decreases the amount of stutters and hiccups but never eliminates them. The buffer is already set to huge. Any ideas why?

Sounds like it could be a problem with the sound card driver. If you’re only seeing 70% cpu usage at the most, the CPU is not maxed out, so I don’t believe it’s a matter of CPU usage. You could try disabling audio realtime priority.

According to http://www.cpubenchmark.net a Pentium 4 2.4 is almost identical to an Atom N280 in performance.

The P4 gets 324 points, and the Atom N280 gets 316 points.

This is extremely impressive, I think. The Atom N280 is an *extremely* low power cpu without, and runs at just 1.66 GHz, and it’s keeping up with a P4 2.4? I’m blown away.

And on that note, I’m shutting down my server, computer and everything, and going on that road trip!

    See you later, guys.

That’s cool that they are nearly identical in performance terms. I guess my point is that BBP is unusable regardless of setting on my P4 2.4 gHz. Since all CPU settings in BBP peak around 70% CPU utilization that just doesn’t leave a lot of margin for other processes to run.

I don’t think it’s the sound card giving me troubles. I’ve tried three and they all do it. How do I disable realtime priority?

    Thanks,
    Stuart
