ParticipantHello all,
Our station has been using Breakaway One since 2023 on a Windows 10 Pro OS machine. We are currently upgrading to a Windows 11 Pro OS machine and need to know the process of moving the BAO license to the new Windows 11 Pro machine. Please explain what we need to know to make the upgrade easy. Thank you. CJ

KeymasterHi CJ. I’m sorry for the late reply, as I clicked on the link before and it went to nowhere.
Your best method involves the following steps. I assume that you have the BA Remote management package.
1) Take a backup of the BA1 configuration on the current PC. (Common > System Information > Backup Configuration.)
2) Install BA1 on your new PC. It will run as a Trial version until licenced.
3) Import the saved configuration. It should run as before, but you will get a voice-over inserted occasionally.
3) Print out the Licence Summary information. (Common > Licence Information > Get Licence Summary
4) Email a copy of the summary (take a screen print) to support@claessonedwards.com requesting a new unlock file. When the file arrives, SAVE IT SOMEWHERE SECURE as a text file and then copy and paste it into the window in the BA1 Config program (NOT the BARemote program). Re-launch the program and the “Trial” status should be gone.
It is a condition of the licence that you immediately uninstall Breakaway One from the old PC if possible.March 26, 2026 at 4:20 pm #17786Northeast Philadelphia Community Radio

ParticipantI upgraded my station PC with a new 2.5gb NIC and BaO went into Trial Mode. I sent the new license report to both support and broadcaster@claessonedwards.com about 24 hours ago along with several follow-up emails and have yet to hear a response back. I even tried to spoof my old MAC on the new NIC and that didn’t work. Now, for almost a full day, I’ve been getting BaO liners over my songs and such. My listeners are getting annoyed and logging off. Can someone help?

KeymasterGlad it finally sorted itself out. I can’t explain why there was such a delay.
Similar to you, I changed my laptop, but I was using an external USB Ethernet connector, so the MAC address was exactly the same. Obviously, Leif has built some other hardware checks into the Licence and these must all align to become registered.

ParticipantI guess since MAC addresses are easy enough to spoof, there must be other things going on. Again I literally just installed a 2.5g NIC. And changing that new NIC’s MAC didn’t work. We’re all good now. Alex H emailed the new license key to me this morning.
