Hi All —
I’m an old time dbx stereo equipment user. And, during the holiday, I was thinking how nice it would be to have something like that for my XMAS music streaming into the PC / Stereo. So I searched and found Breakaway.
It * seems * to be working great for this purpose. However, I wanted to get some quick input (no punn intended) and see:

One other quick question — are the Range / Power / Speed sliders all controlled by the pre-set and do they remember the change as I’ve already messed with the Reference Heavy and would like to set them back to the default for Reference Heavy.
Anyway for things to be automatically set back to default?

Defaults for each setting are exactly halfway. Range: 50, Power:50, Speed:50, Bass:(Normal), Bass Shape: 0.
The volume you can put where you want. I set it to max, turn up the speakers to the point where that’s the loudest would ever want, then turn down the volume slider in Breakaway to the level I need for the moment, either low for background or medium to high for direct listening (like watching a video or cranking up the music).
Unless you have a particular taste for a certain dynamics response, moving the settings isn’t required, and usually one preset will do just fine for most all types of sources. If it sounds good, leave it where it is. If you want a different sound or coloring, try different presets. I used "Reference Settings" for the longest time, but "Reference Heavy" may be the new default. I tend toward the "Perfect Blend" preset for the styles of music I most often have playing.

It was tuned very nicely by Leif, as some of those sliders (like speed) are literally adjusting like 20 different things at once when you move the slider. There’s a lot more going on under the hood than most realize, and this is a serious audio processor which… even the "personal" System version would run you easily over $10,000 if you wanted to get the same capabilities from a "hardware" audio processor. I kid you not. PM me if you want references (not that you’ll need them since you have Breakaway and an extra $10,000+ in your pocket 😉 )
As far as if the sliders remember the change for each preset, yes – they do now. 🙂 Snatch the latest release candidate.
