I don’t know if I’m missing something, but am I able to use multiple instances of BA Live with both ASIO and KS drivers at the same time?
Here’s my scenario, I’m trying to run 1 instance of BA Live with ASIO drivers to process a microphone. I also want to be able to use 1 instance of BA Live with the Breakaway Pipeline via KS drivers. I’m using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB soundcard and I can only get either the ASIO driver working for the mic, but lose the music playback via the Breakaway Pipeline (KS drivers); or I can get the music playback via the Breakaway Pipleline (KS drivers), but I lose the mic input with ASIO drivers.
I’ve tried playing around with about 101 different settings but I can’t get the music and the microphone to work at the same time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I do see what you mean though.. It would be nice to at least be able to run two separate instances to take care of this usage scenario. I’ll think about it — if there’s a feasible way to add this functionality in the future, I definitely will.

February 3, 2009 at 7:39 am #6496Dr.JMemberSo does that mean that as soon as I turn on ASIO I will only be able to process the physical inputs and outputs of the soundcard? (i.e. taking microphones or line inputs, processing them, then sending them back to the soundcard)
The music playout software I use, OtsAV, is ASIO compatible, but I’m guessing only one software program can access the soundcard at a time. Does this mean that when I use ASIO only OtsAV or BA Live can be used, not both? Just wanting to make sure.

It depends on the soundcard drivers & the card’s capabilities. RME is the only cards/drivers that I trust they are going to be handling multiple simultaneous interfaces like that properly, and bit-accurately. But yeah, you’ll have to check with the manual or the customer support for the company that sells the card (i would say made, but 75% of the stuff is made in china now).

Turning ASIO on will essentially turn Breakaway Live into a low latency hardware processor, and it will have both the advantages and disadvantages of a hardware processor.

Yes. and re: "currently or planning on"… They have supported this for so long that I can’t even remember when they started doing it. Over 10 years ago, they have supported multiple connections via all methods, all at once, with proper sync of everything. And it’s all done in the device, so there’s no added CPU load whatsoever.
There is also the ability to route any physical input/output to any virtual input/output, including mixing. So you could have a few inputs getting mixed into breakaway, right in the soundcard.
