    Hi everyone,

I must say I really like the products of Leif! I tested the BA live version with
an onboard sound card of Toshiba laptop with a tool called Asio4all. It works but
I thing the latency is around 100 to 200msec. Can anyone tell me the different between
a real asio card and this tool? Is asio a driver or more than that?

    Regards,

ASIO4ALL just provides a virtual ASIO driver, and then uses Kernel Streaming (or MME, if your card can’t do Kernel Streaming) to relay it. So it’s actually not ASIO at all, in reality.

Actual real ASIO is a very very low latency method of accessing soundcards.

If you try Kernel Streaming directly within Breakaway Live, you’ll probably get a much lower latency that ASIO4ALL can get you. Imho ASIO4ALL is not very optimized, not to mention all you’re doing is adding another 2 more layers of buffering for no real reason.

Try KS and tell us how it goes 🙂

Indeed. All ASIO4ALL does is to translate ASIO -> Kernel Streaming, since most apps do not directly support KS.

Breakaway Live, however, DOES support kernel streaming. Use that instead, unless you have a card that really supports ASIO.

With a real ASIO card you could expect latency in the 10-20ms range.
