Airomate & Breakaway – RDS dropout, PI scramble, PTY alarm, sync issue or STL?

Hi Everyone

For some time we have been experiencing problems with the RDS display. The scrolling PS will stop, RDS flag will disappear and reappear, the PI code will scramble randomly and the PTY Alarm will sometimes pop up. Stereo audio will remain intact.

Running XP on an Athlon X2 64 with 1GB RAM, BBP 0.90.95, Airomate 2.11 with Chronos 0.2 Beta, M Audio Revolution 5.1 PCI, Virtual Audio Cable v4.11

RDS Level 4.3%, Pilot 9%, Sync enabled 50%, RDS input 2 Ch Mix, External Pilot Present

There is a little bit of drift with the conversion clocks, see image below:

I have been monitoring the output on an analyser and can see the RDS pilot at 57kHz drifting up slowly to 59020Hz and then sliding down faster to 56940Hz, then drifting slowly down to 56880Hz and then back up again to 56940Hz. The stereo pilot is also moving, although slower, to 18990Hz and then slowly up to 19000Hz. Could this be due to sound card clock & sync drift or Analog STL drift? I'd like to rule out the sound card and software before dissecting the STL..  Any help appreciated. Thanks  🙂
