Listeners don’t see the outside of the box, I think they did the right thing by focusing on the inside 🙂.

They didn’t change the outside look beacuse…. the inside ( hardware and software has no major change or ‘ patent "
    very very very simple.

BUT BUT BUT ,…they should think more smart marketing ways ..they should make that outside look change …

    who knows!

I agree, camclone. This design is aged way back to the 8400.Orban does not having the marketing prowess that Omnia does.Might help explain why omnia out sells them by a huge margin. The clear winner will be the omnia 11.

All marketing aside… the inside has changed as little as the outside has. 2.5 to 3 dB less of high frequency protection limiting is not going to do much to clean up the sound of the unit, especially when 2/3rd of the distortion product isn’t coming from the treble.

I’m not saying the slight change won’t be good, I bet it is… but that whole platform is a lame duck at this point. And the 8585 is pretty much not even usable for the intended market. They need to start over from scratch just like Omnia has, and ditch the DSP chip platform and join the growing crowd (two’s a crowd?) of true next generation processing.

As far as the O11 being the star of the spring NAB show, that’s not even a debate. I would be shocked (and happy) if BW brought anything truly "next gen" to the show.
