It is linked in my signature "America’s Country" but you can find it online at http://kxrtonline.com and http://facebook.com/KXRTRadio
I hope to hear some great advice and guidance!
I’ve made a few changes since this post:
now using Zenith with 0 final drive, 70 range, 60 power, 55 speed and +7 bass boost with 0 shape.
My effects are Attenuate 1db, phase rotator, impact/slam clunk-1 slam-2Zenith has always been good to me, well balanced EQ-wise and great transparency!
Thanks for your interest and I will certainly take a listen to your work!

March 21, 2011 at 5:15 pm in reply to: What about Processing Freakday? Any updates for the hardware #12002timmywaParticipantSo the $199/$129/$29 question is will Undo be in the software product too?? ❓
timmywaParticipantSilly question… Does the Attenuation Plugin lower the input into the core or lower the output out to the encoder or whatever you set for outputs?
My understanding is it’s the latter but something from the way these posts are written made me wonder a bit.
timmywaParticipantJesse suggested this order for me (I don’t use all those):
- Atten/Gain
- Phase Rotate
- Impact/Clunk
I would imagine balance would go just after Atten/Gain.
March 1, 2011 at 9:47 pm in reply to: Breakaway, Shout/Ice-Cast and EdCast – Setup Guide v1.3 #11901timmywaParticipantShoutcast is very similar other than the lack of requirement of a stream mount point. Just replace all icecast references with shoutcast.
Bulk,
One comment, I don’t believe Livelink is needed when using it in your Winamp scenario. You just select Breakaway Pipeline 1 in the Output > DirectSound settings. You would also only need the DirectSound output plugin and not the Null Output one. I believe you benefit from a more direct music data transfer.
I am a BA Live user and some settings are a little different so please correct me if I’m wrong on this.
Thanks for the professional looking document!
timmywaParticipant
Speaking of Edcast, encoders and the likes, I am wondering how to get the best possible mp3 @ 64k stream online. We are encoding all kinds of streams from 64k to 320k, but I have to say our mp3 64k stream is a shame! What should one do to get the best possible result at this rate? Any hope? 🙂 Thanks,
Audio
I would submit you go mono with that low MP3. That way it’s truly 64kbps, as opposed to two 32kb/s streams combined. I’m sure there’s more to it than that and others might have better news.timmywaParticipant
so how do i get it to install in breakaways folder instead of the winamp folder? as i said i’m able to install it in winamps folder but the installer won’t let me install it in breakaways folder.
You can also fake the installer by creating a new notepad file and name it winamp.exe. Then run the installer and delete the fake winamp.exe.
timmywaParticipantThe winamp one as it is a DSP plugin, not a full application.
timmywaParticipantWould be killer if you could change the settings in real-time, instead of setting, playing, stopping, re-setting, playing, etc…
timmywaParticipantA few updates. If you’re using the Fixed Edcast from Club Rio, you no longer need NSCRT.dll or the VS2005 add-on. Bass.dll is part of edcast as well (I might be confusing the dsp version with the standalone). He’s also added some killer functions to it such as attenuation per encoder along with several fixes to the code. All that detail is on his site as linked above.
The biggest benefit to the attenuation is that you can run your MP3 stream at full volume but can cut the AAC+ streams by the 2db as discussed before here, to avoid clipping.
We also need Jesse to repost his Best for MP3 streaming version of Lame Encoder. I believe 3.91 but don’t quote me.
Thanks for this though, it’s invaluable for us stream-heads!
January 11, 2011 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Where has the "recommended mp3 encoder settings" thread gone #11748timmywaParticipantGood question!
timmywaParticipanthttp://www.cloudbroadcaster.com gives you up to 25 slots up to 192kbps FREE. It’s based on CentovaCast stream management. They also have some pay scales for more slots. This is pretty cool for the money!
timmywaParticipantLive is your best bet as broadcast has extra features that while needed for FM broadcasting are not necessary for streaming and can actually lower the overall quality. In the internet realm, there’s no loudness wars or overmodulating to eek out that last few inches of coverage. You want to sound consistent and clean. Not loud and crunched. That’s just my 12 cents.
timmywaParticipant
To make what JesseG said clearer:
I would go for an AMD processor at this moment. The performance difference is minimal (i have both) and AMD is much easier to upgrade in the long run. Imo Intel really screwed up with the i series, come on, 3 sockets for 3 CPUs that are made from the same building blocks?
The only thing I would add to this is that Leif has described in his posts many times that there is code in Breakaway that takes advantage of specific functionality/instruction sets only in Intel CPUs. So I would stick with an Intel.
timmywaParticipantI just have to say… I LOVE hearing Trans-Siberian Orchestra on this preset!! It’s auditory heaven!
