ParticipantJust from what was said, it needs to be cleared up that compressed, as in MP3 vs WAV, is not at all the same as compressed, as in Volume or Dynamics. MP3 is a file compression, where it makes the files smaller by removing "unneeded" data. Volume/Dynamics compression is taking loud and quiet audio and making it roughly the same levels. So running an MP3 through Breakaway will have nothing to do with it's file size or lossy quality. Yes an uncompressed or lossless file will ultimately do better through breakaway, but breakaway won't necessarily make things sound worse on an MP3. It's a whole different subject for saying audio processing can bring out audio artifacts in lossy compressed audio files… I hope I cleared this up.

The basic idea is to point your application to one of the breakaway pipelines. So, instead of the audio settings in the game pointing to Realtek Audio, point it to Breakaway Pipeline 1. Then Breakaway outputs to Realtek. That's super-basic, but it gives you the idea of how it works.
Or, you could go into your sound settings in control panel and set breakaway pipeline as your default output/input and any program that is pointing to default will feed audio to Breakaway. The problem there is any and all programs will feed through Breakaway, instead of those you specify, in the first paragraph.

I tried to test the latest version of VAC, 4.13, I think. I found the jitter measurements shown in the test within Breakaway were MUCH higher than with the included Pipeline version. I had to bump the buffer size and numbers way up (highest) to get it around 10%. While, with the built-in, I was at 882 x 4 and had 0% jitter. I wonder what your buffer settings in Breakaway were to find good jitter measurements.

ParticipantIf you right-click on the icon in the task tray (near the clock), and hit About, it should take you to a registration page. I don't know, because I've never had 2 licenses, so I don't know how that would work. But see if you need to enter the new key into that area.

Audio player output set to Breakaway Line 1, then in breakaway have the DSP version of your encoder, like Edcast, hosted and that's really it. The main idea here is in this situation, you don't need a soundcard, just point the main output of your player to breakaway line 1 and that's it.

ParticipantI've been told several times by Jesse and others to always run Live at 0dB. He said any adjusting needed can be done after breakaway, for example, in edcast… YMMV.

ParticipantIn Breakaway Live, you have to go into Settings and then into IO Settings. Then you can edit the buffer settings there.
