That’s very puzzling to learn.
I’m fully aware of the requirements that these types of processing software need to work. Tried using a Marian Trace, an M-Audio 192, (in ASIO) and then an external Behringer UMC202 – adjusted pilot level to 9% using a Belar FMM-2/FMS-2 & Inovonics 531 mod monitors for good accurate measure. Using composite input of an old Broadcast Electronics FX30 exciter and alternately a BW Broadcast TX30. (there are no toys here….)
All produced extremely similar measurements and results. When the pilot is adjusted to 9% using the MPX-2 output level, I can hardly make 60% total modulation. (it is not loud or competitive) When the MPX output level is increased to just below 100% peak mod, the pilot goes to 14%! Completely unacceptable for the application I am using it for – a licensed LPFM on a tight budget in a medium sized competitive market. I just don’t understand why Leif would omit this very important adjustment – I believe this was a big mistake. Unfortunately its a deal breaker. (Maybe I’m not the market he is going after with Breakaway One……) Does this “expert mode” I keep reading about restore the pilot level adjustment? Is it a command line switch? I’ve used most other processing software for years for the same types of applications and thought Breakaway One was within budget, and up for the challenge. Dissapointed because we really liked the sound – especially with the plutonium preset…… -
