I need to add something (which i found out after a conversation with Hans): You need the latest BETA version of the perfect declipper VST plug-in / Stereotool to use the fix. Otherwise it will not work.

You can also make the settings in the app, and once your done run it as a service. But the remote controle makes live easier, and you can also control and monitor it from other locations / systems.
The streaming encoders are also necessary i guess, unless you use your own software to stream. I did use the Edcast DSP plug-in in the old BBP to do that job.

Thanks Leif and Timmy! I e-mailed Hans to upgrade my license for the Perfect Declipper. Because that Delossifier is a nice thing for a MP3 stream 🙂

Leif: It's around 12/13% tops, it's now OK since that upgrade of VAC and reboot. We shall see…
Before 1 thread (of 1 core) was around 100%, and also "Max" CPU value in BBP. Very weird.

I will take your advise, and run it as a service then, because now it's not.

Nice thing of that Perfect Declipper VST is that you can also choose on which cores you wanna run it, so i configured it to run on 2 cores that where doing there wintersleep ::)

Aah ok. Thanks for the answer. I thought the stuttering before the reboot and high CPU thread usage was because of it going around the 100%, there should always be some headroom. But i will see if it keeps running stable now. If it is, i can do the upgrade as i only have to activate the license and that's it (and first request it). I must say some other stuff is running on the same CPU too, like the old BBP with the Perfect Declipper, SAM, DanceBoost Silence Detector etc.

I only use the HD core, as i almost never use my FM transmitter (it's also illegal ;D).

And regarding the cause of the bug: It's between the chair and the keyboard lol.

in reply to: Requests and BUG REPORTS for new Breakaway One beta! #14729

I also had an issue with the CPU reaching around 100% on 1 thread, which made the stream stutter. I installed the new VAC from the link on the BBO website (4.15c), and rebooted. So far so good. I will test for a few days if it stays this way. Still a shame that BBO only uses 2 cores, and not 4 or more 😛

I think i experienced this issue in the past too, but don't remember if it was after some time or right away. But that's why i start using livelink in SAM to transport the audio to BBP, instead of VAC. It's a 2600K CPU, so that should be fast enough 😉 I will keep you posted. And if someone had the same issue, i would love to hear the cause.

Ehmmm, i found the problem. Do you see the first 3 letters of the plug-in i posted in my previous post? It starts with dsp… ::) For some reason i always used that one in BBP, and i need the vst_perfect_declipper.dll. That one is indeed working. I "saw that over the head", as they would say in the Netherlands. Sorry guys 😀

Btw. The VST is not updated yet (still 2.00), maybe later tonight.

in reply to: Requests and BUG REPORTS for new Breakaway One beta! #14725

Yeah, it's the 32-bit version. As soon as i enable it, it says the BAOneVSTHost has stopped working. And i did close BBP and the Perfect Declipper plug-in before i enable it in BBO.
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit on my "server".
The path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\SpacialAudio\SAMBC\plugins\dsp_perfect_declipper.dll, don't know if that can be a problem somehow. But it's working perfectly in BBP.

I also want to note that the Perfect Declipper VST plug-in crashes as soon as i activate it in BBO. As long as that is not working, BBO is not usable for me.

And second is that i think the settings for the stereo expander are a bit strange. In BBP you can arrange it band by band, and in BBO they are more general.
I hope Leif reads this too 😉

in reply to: Slowly rising CPU load #11401

I fixed a work around for this "rising CPU problem", as Leif or Keith are not responding on this Forum.

Just download the restartbbp.rar file, and extract it. It contains a file named "restartbbp.bat". This file will shutdown Breakaway and all of it’s child processes (forced), wait a few seconds and start the application again.

You can start restartbbp.bat with the Windows Task Schedular. You can plan it every 2 days, for example on Monday, Wednesday and Friday (as a week doesn’t have 8 days). I scheduled it at 5 ‘o clock in the morning, so nobody will notice that the stream is down for a few seconds.

I tested it under Windows 7 on 2 different machines, and it works great! It should be working correctly on all Windows versions.

Don’t forget to change the path or proces name if you use a different version of BBP or Windows as I am (you can edit the .bat file with notepad).

    Good luck! 😉

If also have a Vbscript (.vbs) available that is exactly doing the same thing as the .bat file, if somebody prefers that.

Merry Christmas too, and the best whishes for 2011

I just updated the Christmas Jingles with new versions, if anyone is bored: http://www.studio26radio.nl

Hopefully Leif will solve the bug in BBP next year 😉

in reply to: Slowly rising CPU load #11399

I don’t see how routing the audio through the soundcard solves the problem with the rising CPU load? I use livelink to route the audio from SAM to BBP, so the VAC has nothing to do with it.

It must be a problem in BBP itself, some kind of bug. I hope Leif wants to check it again, because i am not the only one with this problem. A lot of people experience it.

in reply to: Slowly rising CPU load #11396

After 4 days, BBP was using 30-50% of the CPU suddenly. It was not rising, but after about 4 days it suddenly goes to 30-50%!

I am not using the Pipeline btw, I use Livelink to transport the audio from SAM to BBP.

This is really a big problem. The only option is to downgrade i guess. Then i loose my stereo widener 🙁

in reply to: Slowly rising CPU load #11395

I also have this problem. I actually experience it for a couple of months, but i first thought it was a problem on the PC which i listen to the stream on. But today i heard the same fluctuations in the Audio (volume difference some / some small hitches) on my work.

I was checking BBP in the taskmanager, and it was stucked around 30% CPU usage. I shut down BBP, and restarted it, and the CPU usage was normally again (around 7-10%). The audio is perfect again now. I will monitor it for a few days to see if the CPU usage is rising again, and if the volume difference and hitches come back).

    – I use Breakaway Broadcast Processor 0.90.93 (with the Edcast plug-in, but that one is running in dsphost.exe if i am correct?).
    – Windows 7 64-bit (stripped down a bit)
    – AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 5050e (2,6 Ghz).

I hope Leif will soon investigate this problem, and resolve it in the next version of BBP a.s.a.p.

I will slap myself till next year because i discovered this so late lol.

in reply to: Free stable alternative to edcast #11095

*scratching his butt* Is it making the sound louder? Edcast adds about +2dB, that’s why i like Edcast. And i use the logging functionality to see if it has dropped down, and when.

in reply to: 64-bit audio driver stabiliy (or lack thereof) #10317

I am actually running a Windows 7 64-bit server, without problems. But i am not using the soundcard, i directly stream from BBP to the encoder in Edcast. It’s running very stable, only Edcast is a sensitive application.. but that has nothing to do with the 64-bit system. 32-bit is also supported in Windows 7 64-bit, so nothing to worry about i guess.

Hmm i really have to go now, time for my afternoon walk.
