MemberI did an mp3, but it was never in any of the compiles.

MemberWow, way too wide. And Ozone isn’t program dependent. When used in broadcasting (set & forget) it will arbitrarily widen everything the same, no matter how wide or narrow it already is. There’s much better and more listenable ways to do this, like the Sparticus VST.
At the very least, don’t widen so much, and don’t widen anything under like 150 Hz. In fact you might want to narrow the bass some. I’m not sure how fast the crossovers are on that part of Ozone, but be aware of that too.

MemberYeah, it’s amazing how useless a clock-speed is to measure the computing power of a CPU. Even just within the P4 line… if you clocked a new P4 at 500mHz and compared it to the first 500mHz P4, some people might be in for a surprise. 😉

MemberYea, me nether. Thanks. 🙂
About the odd shapes thingy for one "meter type" at a time… well two options, you can limit the ratios to the overall gui size… OR…
well for the RTA, knowing some of your gui code personally… it’s pretty easy to make that go vertical.
the scope is a whole other thing though. I guess you could rotate everything before it’s blit, but I know the Leif better than that… and you would want to do a more "proper" reworking to allow for vertical scopes.
you would still want to limit the minimum sizes a bit though, but the ratio should be in the eye of the beholder if there’s only one thing on the screen, unless it’s causing a technical problem. other than that, the auto-vertical code is the only thing there which doesn’t seem like it would be a problem. if someone wants a perfect square and can deal with 2-3 pixels in the "wrong" direction to get the orientation they want, i think they can compromise. 😉

Member
For FM I’m liking Rustonium with a couple extra db of clipper drive at the moment….Nice! 😀
Thanks, yeah, I’ve found it can hold together pretty well with even +4db ish. Even though I said +3db above, to hopefully keep people "sane" with their settings. 😆 But yeah, above 2.9db the bass clipper type goes up a notch, so that does change the bass and usually makes 2.9 sound better than 3.0, imho.

Member^ The input audio. I find myself sometimes having to use "Audio Repeater" of VAC to do that if i’m routing audio to the RTA through a VAC/Pipeline, and the audio repeater never remembers settings, and can sometimes glitch even with a long delay, which makes viewing the RTA delayed.
Another thing that might be nice is being able to force it to only have one of the 3 items, RTA/meter/scope.
There are some times when just a meter would be nice. Or just an RTA. 8) No matter what size the gui is.
JesseG
MemberAnother thing I thought of… it would be quite convenient to have RTA be able to output to a soundcard as well. DS and MME would be fine. KS, sure, why not. 😛

Member10 seconds off of the air. try to flash the firmware & restart a DSP-based hardware unit that fast! 😆
Oh, I thought I would add that this update of the Breakaway Professional product line includes a preset that myself and Leif worked on for a long time, called Rustonium. It’s a combination of the bass and treble of Plutonium, and the midrange and dynamics stability of Rusticity. If you don’t "need" to be quite as loud as New York, especially outside of 75uS markets, it’s an absolutely fantastic preset for almost any format. (although it sounds half decent with +3db drive, or slightly more)
The main thing I wanted to comment on about it, is that if you have the Rustonium preset selected, and set the low-pass filtering to 11kHz or lower, it switches to a tweaked version of the preset for low bandwidth transmission formats…. such as AM!!! I also recommend adjusting the roll-off for the low-pass filtering to take some of the edge off of the very top edge of the spectrum. We purposly made the low-bandwidth tweaked version quite sharp edged on the very top of the spectrum so that you can make it as edgy or as mellow as you want using the roll-off.
And there’s a few updated presets and a few other new presets by a few other new members in the preset team. 8) They may decide to comment on their presets here.

You work at Cisco? noice. 8) I used to be an up to date CCNA, btw. Back before the dot.bomb.
JesseG
Membermost codecs at the "near cd quality" point, like 128kbps mp3… have a low-pass at 16kHz anyways. so it’s not super crucial.

MemberWork with booting from a $10 USB flash drive? Yeah. Computers have been able to do it for about as long as USB has been around. 🙂
JesseG
MemberGreat information about how VALUE works in the computer market, and actually a very simple way of putting it. I made it sticky. 8)
JesseG
MemberAhhhh, now I see where you’re talking about. Not the soundcard list, but the interface list. Indeed, that’s a bug. 🙂

JesseG
MemberI have a version of Rustonium for AM, we’ll see if Leif wants to include it. 🙂
JesseG
Member… that would be … my New York preset, with Leif’s MPX backend. 😉 It is indeed impressive, but I’m sure with a full control version, people will figure out how to push it harder without getting a "worse" sound than my NYC preset. There’s not much room there left over, but when considering a specific genra or sound, it’s possible to get a hair or two louder.
